I have spoken to a number of people who have gone on atos who are genuinely ill.

What seems to happen is no matter what you say or any evidence you give of your illness including taking medication as proof at the atos centre they pass you as fit for work.

What happens then is they stop paying you.

There is an appeal process which is dragged out usually 7 months at best but usually a year. When the appeal is dealt with the person might qualify for the benefit but the whole process can start all over again.
That's a pretty accurate assessment. Their job is simply to get people off Incapacity Benefit.

I have also been told that the interview is designed around a system where points are awarded to the ill person if they cannot do certain things and suffer disabilities and if enough points are awarded they quallify for benefit which is a life line when they feel they are drowning.

The interviewers have not been following guidlines and issuing points when people qualify for them and also lying for what i can only imagine is a bonus for themselves.

No bonus, just the shit salary.
Thats literally how desperate people are.
They will ofc also continue to vote :)

looks like enabling small time psychopaths to be cruel to people

I can see what is coming

there is a subculture of cruelty ready to be unleashed

just think of school and work

now think larger scale

:)

I take time off if I need it or holidays when I want.
Yes it costs money but I made sure I earn enough to cover it.

If I didn't then why would I accept the contract? :)

It's not so much that the assessors don't follow guidelines, it's that the guidelines are intrinsically ridiculous. It's stuff like "can you tell the time?", "can you make a cup of tea?". Under the new legislation if you're a cancer patient, and are definitely going to die, but have more then six months to live then you're treated as a normal 'jobseeker'. People undergoing chemotherapy have been assessed as fit to work; ie. fit to apply for any job that the Jobcentre tell them to. Who is going to qualify as not fit to work under those criteria?

Who thought those guide lines up wub?

It's obvious they are trying to send the seriously ill to an early grave.

Ahh, yes. :)

I meant small timers like myself. If I don't work, I don't get paid, so I'm desperately trying to develop that workaholic mindset. Unfortunately, it doesn't come easily. :(

Most people spend the first few years working their arses off from what I can gather.
