Author and legendary conservationist Lawrence Anthony died March 7. His family tells of a solemn procession on March 10 that defies human explanation. For 12 hours, two herds of wild South African elephants slowly made their way through the Zululand bush until they reached the house of late author Lawrence Anthony, the conservationist who saved their lives. The formerly violent, rogue elephants, destined to be shot a few years ago as pests, were rescued and rehabilitated by Anthony, who had grown up in the bush and was known as the “Elephant Whisperer.”

Wild Elephants gather inexplicably, mourn death of “Elephant Whisperer”

This is certainly sad, but also interesting. How did they know he died? Just how deep was their bond?

Animals have more going on than what science is comfortable with us knowing. I'm of the opinion that at one level or another, far/deep enough in, out or through we're all connected in ways that aren't so easy for some to accept or understand. An ever-evolving sea of consciousness or "becoming". Sometimes we're better able to tap into that invisible field and connect to others (human AND animal) and I think it's when we're at our best (physically, mentally, emotionally healthy) that this is at its least challenging.

I believe whatever it is that makes us what we are beyond the flesh is what we need to submerge ourselves in so that the more difficult and seemingly impossible things can be done/understood.

Very well said. As a society today, there is a rather large emphasis on outer space. I think in order to make sense of it, one must explore inner space before. That's what the ancients did, and seemed to understand outer space in ways we're just beginning to comprehend again today. I believe 'inner space' is the consciousness field/zero point, etc, you were talking about Phem. Somewhere along the way we've been disconnected, unplugged. What seems like a mystery or paranormal in the instance of the elephants is likely just a natural common thing amongst the creatures still connected to the land.

Which brings me to thinking this. Progress. Wiping out the rainforest for lumber and land all the while native tribes being pushed into extinction. Not that it's just for the reason of pushing them off of land their ancestors of thousands of years have occupied, therefore killing a lot of who and what they are, but I'm sure that's factored into the equation in those wonderful, humanitarian "think-tanks" that are so popular among the upper-corporate culture.

Like with all the NDN's in the U.S. being pushed off of their land, relocated to places that they're not even suited to live in. (Ex. Cherokees being kicked out of their homelands and pushed into Texas) I'm positive that there were those that knew that once they sever those ties to ancestral lands then they take a lot of any particular peoples "magic" away too. Spiritual, medicinal, everything weakens as a tribe gets dislocated from its lifeline to Nature.

It is said, and observed, that elephants are very intelligent and sensitive. I wonder how they compare to the dolphin?

As I am a native Florida girl (living in Texas), the dolphin, gator and manatee have a special place. :notworthy:

Still, I trust dolphin with my portfolio above the others. :spliff:

I thought we covered this already?? :bat:

Damn it all, I can't find the thread/post! You know, the one where we were hatin on dolphins? Gawd, that would've been so funny to tie in here but nooooo, I'm a forgetful idiot that can't freakin remember which post is in which thread!!! :aargh:

But to answer your question, Coco, I'm sure that both elephants and dolphins are quite gifted in the intelligence departments in ways that best suit their own individual species needs. :D

You remind me of the other night when I couldn't find a thread I knew I posted in......or that time Led Zeppelin got lost in Kashmir, true story. The boys just played until Plant figured out a point to pick up the lyrics again. :D

I totally got lost with that part about King Punjab and the other guys too!

Anyway, funny you mention this; I spent time reading The Times of India the other day. It seems they have false terrorist alerts just like us, and also want to create a national database....just sayin' it's a global phenom.

P.S. Do NOT allow this to kill the thread! Seriously!!!!

Please, let us continue our dolphin hate!

Well, maybe we should call up a few of our elephant friends and see if they would pay a little visit to these smug dolphin cocksuckers??

WATCH! The riveting RAW footage of a DOMESTIC TERRORIST goat trying to bully an ordinary American during his peaceful travels.

SEE! How the peaceful American uses his SUPERIOR intellect to best the rabid, foam-mouthed BEAST FROM HADES!

LEARN! How you, too, can deflect, divert, and VANQUISH the very horned-devil incarnate himself!

IF YOU DARE!!

Consider yourself WARNED! :oldfart: :nono: :hide: :pop:

We're gonna need to bring Indie in on this. He definitely needs to know! We'll get him, a case of hand grenades, a couple space cannons (I have NO idea what space cannons even are, but they sound fucking boss as all Hell!!) and enough Bacardi 151 to drown a large petting zoo.... :secret:

Operation Fuck This Dolphin, I mean Baphomet Shit: INITIATED!!! :ar:

Which is exactly why I don't go to the Topsy Safari Drive-Thru Zoo! Ima skeered of those African Water Buffalo Horned - Dealies they got roaming around there.

Oh, Brenda, why don't you go to the safari drive-thru zoo, you would it enjoy it so much!

Because those blood lusting predators are just biding their time until I make my appearance so the Wilder Beasts can make sweet, Wilder Beast love to my truck!

Nobody can undo the rear end plug in my truck to check the fluid 'cause of salt water damage as is; Imagine what would happen to the springs and exhaust after such aggressive animal-romantic extremes they were NEVER meant to endure! And I would have to sign a waiver to enter the place so I'd end up with all the repair costs!

And just HOW would I explain that to the body shop?!! :umm:

Also, the zoo owner is a slow pay......so not completely, unconfirmed rumor has it.
