I think Oi is really a big fan.

I found a 'rare' recording, I know some on here like to regular examine their shoes and/or navels so I shared it. I'm all altruistic like that me.

3 reasons I hate them:
1) they are shite
2) when I discovered punk and was getting angry at the world my 'peers' were all growing fringes over one eye and staring at their shoes with the other and being all "woe is me".

A trip to communist Russia and flogging the badges I bought there at 10 times their cost in the UK meant I had a bit of spare cash, I bought Nevermind the Bollocks just to have it in my collection as a good 'swap' (before the internet we'd swap albums and tape em), I was into Hip Hop at the time (still am) and it was more on the angry side anyway, e.g. Public Enemy so wasn't really expecting to like punk. I got home, slapped it on and was blown away, went and bought The Rock n Roll Swindle the next day and here we are!

As for your 'punk' friends, If they don't want to be punk any more they probably never were. Lot's of people like punk music, that doesn't make them punks. It's more an approach to life. That's not being judgemental, just a fact

It is interesting to think of The Smiths as the Eastenders of music. Only if it were better written maybe.

Also to oi the whole "found a rare Smiths video" sounds kind of like "the porn on my computer must be a virus I got".

Why would I hide it if I liked em? They're from Salford, I'd probably be a Smiths bore if I liked them!

Believe me that was easier said than done in Manchester in the late 80's!

Unless you are suggesting I should have spent my teens locked in my bedroom to avoid them....but then I'd just be a Smiths fan but without the music :D
