Mikey, I'm going to put my hand up and say I do think it'd be a good idea for you to take a time out.
What we have seen these past few days has taken us to the point where the place is imploding right at the time it could be growing.
You are involved at the heart of that. Not just you, others too and I humbly say the same to them:

To everyone: If you are not prepared to help the people here carry out the process of sorting this place out constructively, please take some time out and come back when those that are have worked out some shizzle.
This petty arguing and bs has got to stop. It's totally against what this place is supposed to be. Go sock at the dif if you want to play games.

If you are prepared to put some effort into the place then please do so :)

I don't like to get involved in all this personal drama, as I have always found it quite tiresome and boring in real life in every single workplace that I've ever been in. But does anyone remember this thread?:

sanctumzone.co.uk/forum/General/64851-Fork-in-the-Road.html

It wasn't that long ago, it was four days ago. I also made this post, and suggested we all do the following:

sanctumzone.co.uk/forum/General/64851-Fo...it=20&start=20#65273

I also think it would be a good idea, as I suggested, to have a pledge. This could operate as a thread that people sign up to, whether existing member or otherwise (it could perhaps be 'sticked') where we agree in principle to uphold certain principles. I would suggest:

(i) I pledge to make a financial contribution of at least £1 per annum to the running of the site.
(ii) I pledge to make every effort to be polite to others at all times, and respect other people's views, even if I disagree with them.
(iii) I pledge to challenge others' behaviour when it is not consistent with pledge (ii).
(iv) I pledge to respect the consensus viewpoint of the forum and its members with regards to decision making.
(v) I pledge to treat the people that put their time, effort and money into running and maintaining the site with the respect that they deserve.

If we all sign up to that, and make a distinct effort to be consistent with it, then it would be a step in the right direction.
Can everyone put their hand on their heart and say their behaviour has been consistent with that? I would think probably not. People need to behave like adults and take responsibility for their actions.

You are involved at the heart of that.

Well I stayed out of chat last night having saw your and pskettis comment.

I know you mean well, but it seems that people want me to stay. (thanks folks)

Besides, were I to go, "the others at the heart of that" would move on to somebody else. They indicated that I am not the only member that they object to. You or oioioi or Black Cloud may even br the next one.

I would like to point out that my contribution to this forum is not limited to these arguments. I believe that I have contributed constructively to the rebuilding threads (so to speak) like the one quoted by WUB. I also post threads on a range of topics. It seems that the people wanting me out would like to have me seen as somebody who just argues. It's not true. i would like to say also that I am not calling people sneaky cunt, wanker, and other aggressive insults.

As for the emoticon. If the chat logs still exist I suggest you read it again and ask yourself if  is really appropriate.

I didn't say you should go. I said I'd like you to take a time out. Norty mr strawman :D
If people start on me that's fine (won't be the first time). They'll find that I respond with wit and a straight bat and then get straight back to why I come here. Bring it on would be my response to anyone who has the cajones :D

I don't disagree with any of that Mikey. I regularly enjoy your posts and threads as you know. I am only referring to this current 'situation' and haven't laid the blame at your door. I've clearly said you are one of a few that could do with taking a time out.

Thanks for your answer, dub.

I appreciate the time you took to clarify your earlier posts for me.

I think I was being sensitive because of another post on this page.

As for your suggestion, I would take it into consideration if I knew who the others that you refer to were and whether they would consider it too.

Perhaps I can suggest a compromise? Maybe take time out from things like the chat thread?
I don't want anyone to go, what I'd like is for people to keep their eye on the ball :)

Okay, I can do that as of 12:12 UK time.

May I ask that people refrain from calling me a cunt, threatening me with "burning" and blaming me for the content of the chat?

That would seem fair to me.
I would add, could all of us refrain from the mud slinging and concentrate on the job at hand? Let the past be the past. Live in the here and now.
