Feminism is the freedom to do what you want as a female, why were the majority sold on the idea it means getting pissed up and lairy?

Yeah...a lot of women thought that emulating the worst traits of the worst type of men was the way forward.

Conversely the whole 'ladette' culture passed Greece by and mrs oioioi often refers to certain tasks as "a mans job"... she goes a bit quiet when I ask for a comprehensive list of both sexes roles, what with her being a 21st century career type and me the stay at home parent type and this suiting her (and me) to a tee!

I dunno - I grew up resenting the fact that my dad was a sexist dinosaur.

When I was about 20 yrs old, his new video kept blowing out, which I told him was because he was putting a 15 amp fuse in the plug when it needed a 3 amp. He ignored the advice & tried to ridicule me with derisive comments about my gender, which was typical. I managed a branch of Granada TV rentals at the time. He just wouldn't have it till a bloke told him the same thing, at which point, he put a 3 amp in, & it was fine.

So in my mind, feminism was only about women not being seen as inferior.

Certainly it is, in my opinion.

But apparently you can call anything feminism these days: c.f. Girl Power :bs:

Having been around females who some would call more aggressive and less submissive, the sense I pick up is that a resentment of not being considered a equal to men in many situations in society still actually pisses them off.

Especially if the male they are being compared to is lazy, weak of character, mean, selfish,or lacking in good hygiene practices.

It's not a hate or dislike of a man more of a competition to show their ability mentally and physically and they get the opportunity now because of the fact the past generations of women have fought through many restrictions opening new doors for them.

Oh yes. Femminism comes in Libertarian flavour now (Ron Paul, Koch and Alex Jones variety). You get added Second Ammendment on it.

I got Socialist Feminist 100%, Anarcho Feminist 86%, Radical Feminist 72%

Shitty test, but I am fairly happy with that.

But I would bet you don't take no abuse from a man,and probably never have or you fought them and that's a compliment in my book toward you.

Not only people who like to sub-categorise further than femminist but also "libertarians" (closet neo cons and wingnuts) who while actually being bigots want to at least claim that they are "femminist" in their own way. A sort of Koch-litetm

Incidentally, here is a recent story that goes to show how women are still being treated like shit.#

And I mean really shit!
Last summer, a drunk Arizona police officer named Robb Gary Evans drove himself to a bar, flashed his badge to avoid paying cover at the door, and then walked up behind a woman, put his hand up her skirt, and ran his fingers over her genitals. A jury convicted him of sexual abuse, a felony with a maximum sentence of 2 and a half years in prison, and Evans was fired from the police force after an internal investigation.

Nevertheless, Arizona trial Judge Jacqueline Hatch, who was appointed to the bench by Gov. Jan Brewer (R-AZ), decided that Evans’ actions did not warrant jail time — sentencing him probation and 100 hours of community service. Evans also will not have to register as a sex offender. Yet, while Judge Hatch apparently did not view the disgraced former cop’s actions as particularly serious, she had some very harsh words for the woman he assaulted:

Bad things can happen in bars, Hatch told the victim, adding that other people might be more intoxicated than she was.

“If you wouldn’t have been there that night, none of this would have happened to you,” Hatch said. <snip>

“When you blame others, you give up your power to change,” Hatch said that her mother used to say.

Now E.L. James might approve, and use it for her next book.

Now that is a really shitty way to treat a woman! I'm shocked that the "blame the victim" mentality is still in force. :O :(

I don't think E. L. James would approve though - everything in her book is consensual - a D/s relationship might not be everyone's cup of tea (it isn't mine!), but there's no actual rape in the book or anything like that.

But the judge was a woman. Not that it should actually make an iota of difference, but you'd think she'd have some empathy for the victim. It's unreal what goes on!
