There's by now reams of evidence other primates are smart and have very complex emotions into the bargain. There is a drive to give apes basic rights

Which will never happen as apes can do less about being exploited than people. And there's money to be made on the land where they live and in some cases by killing them. I think the way our closest relatives get treated is very symbolic of how vulnerable humans get treated by the powerflu in pursuit of money.

Despite the typical horrible American cheese style on this clip (that manages to subtract credibility from anything it's used for), I think this was a very touching event and one of the ones that shows apes aren't just smart they're emotional in the same way we are.
