Yeah, ok I left meself open to that :emb: You're right, the percentage is averaged, not literally every £100 pays out £74 but over cycles, the average is indeed 74%. One day you may get lucky with £50, the next you might not. If you're making £200 bets though, you're feeding in enough cash to get that percentage. No doubt about it.

If you are privy to the percentage of yer average FOBT machine then please share it. I bet anyone who has one would be glad of even a 26% bung for every pound that goes in... Especially given the £200 bet every what was it? 20 seconds or summat?.Sure, I bet there's a lot of greedy fuckers though who want more than 26%

You are assuming that because you are a drug dealer, you are incapable of working out the best way to launder your money....
That couldn't be further from the truth....

So drug dealers are laundering money in the FOBT according to the Guardian :killinme:

Putting 3k into a machine to get £500 makes great sense even for a drug dealer :killinme:

The FOBT are a bookies fav because of the huge profits they make, not the huge losses they make :killinme:

But as its in the Guardian must be true eh

Did you actually have the sense to read the article before commenting on it?
The FOBT they are talking about are roulette machines.
As it says in the article, he puts £40 on red and £40 on black, and £2 on 0.
So if it comes in red or black, he gets £80 back and loses £2. If it comes in green (0) he gets £74 back, losing £8.
Once he's finished he prints the receipt, takes it to the counter & collects his fairly minimal losses; but his money is clean & he has proof of where the money came from.

I had a good run on the roulette machines a few years ago when I had a few quid to fuck about with.
Unlike most people who go on them & just throw money onto the numbers hoping they come in, I had a strategy.
I'd put £1 on red, and if it didn't come in I'd be £1 down... so then I'd bet £2 on the last colour to come in, which would normally be black if it wasn't red. The green doesn't really matter, it just offsets the odds and might as well be viewed as the colour you're betting against.
So every time I'd lose I'd double my bet & put it on the last colour to come in. This ensures you remain £1 up all the time.
I don't advise trying this, as it can really put your heart in your mouth when you end up betting £64 to win back the £1 you lost.
However, it is totally theoretically feesable, because the chances of you choosing the right colour are around 49%, you've just got to have the bollox to do it and quite a few quid to fuck about with to cover your bets. Also, the machines would often go on a 'streak' where the same colour would come in about 15 times on the trot.... which made my time sat there much quicker. It used to take me about 2 hours to make £100, which is pretty tedious but obviously not a bad income. I did this for a while until I got stung a couple of times by not having enough to cover my bets, then went off it.

This is sometimes referred to as the 'Martingale System':

You probably quit at the right time! I read an article about casino games, not gambling machines the actual games in the casino, and some mathematicians or computer scientists had run trillions of hands of blackjack through a computer, and the computer concluded that there's no possible winning strategy, you lose whatever you do if you play for long enough. And that's with a smaller percentage house edge than roulette. There are supposedly people who can count into a seven shoe blackjack deck like in 'Rain Man', but this requires incredible concentration and perseverance, I don't see any difference between that and working for a living. If you can do that, you should play poker.

I tried it in a proper casino when I was in Australia... the first and only time I've ever been in one.
The wrong colour came in every time I bet & the minimum bet was something like $10 so I quickly lost quite a few quid there before deciding to fuck it off! Apparently you'll get chucked out of casinos for trying it in them. (Obviously not if you lose and just fuck off)

eta;
yeh I saw there was a technique. I actually spent ages thinking about it and doing it before I saw somebody had already thought of it!
A lot of it also depends on your kind of feel for the machines. Although they're random number generators, some very distinct patterns often emerge. Such as it staying on the same colour multiple times. That was when I was making my coin because I'd be throwing £5 on that colour per go.... and when it eventually lost I'd have to switch to £10 then £20 then £40 bets to recover it. You soon build up a nice little sum doing that.
As I've said though... please don't try this out! I'm not a natural gambler, it makes me too nervous.

Really? I didn't know that. It's because it wins the vast majority of the time. If you do lose then you lose big, but if everyone went into a casino one day and did it then they're potentially in big trouble. I'm sure they lower the maximum and raise the minimum stakes as well to make it hard to do.

You'd think the fact that all of their games are mathematically certain to make them money whatever anyone who's playing them does would be enough of an advantage.

A relation of mine used to work in pubs quite a lot and told me he used to watch machines for hours, seeing who put what in. It got so he knew when to play and when to not bother.

I know they're not the same as betting machines, but these arcade places are full of something similar. If you did this that often, I suppose you would get to know makes and certain games quite well.

I still don't understand why arcades and the like have to be open 24hrs though. We're not talking about the strip in Vegas here...this is a run-down, half empty High Street, populated by many other arcades and some pound shops. Who the fuck are they expecting to rock up there at three in the morning during the week?
What we are today comes from our thoughts of yesterday, and our present thoughts build our life of tomorrow: Our life is the creation of our mind.

Like you say though making the minimum & maximum stakes makes it more difficult. On the machines, it makes it harder by not allowing you to place denominations between say £15-20, you'd have to round it up to a fiver. But obviously as long as you're staking higher to recover your money you'll still be up. & I think the maximum bet on a colour is £250 because the maximum pay out in 1 spin is £500.

So after buying the gear, nocking it out risking arrest, they then bung in for example 3k of drugs money to get back £780 back with a ticket, so the ob wont arrest them

Yep... what I found after a while is the combination of it going red/black/red/black/red/black would come in eventually and that would sting my stake money despite the odds against it happening being quite high. So I started to adapt to recognising the patterns of what was happening & throwing my bet the other way.
Another pattern that is prevalent on the machines is that the numbers around 0 will start to come up more often at some point, and at that point it's worth having a cheeky side bet on 0 because it seems to indicate it's about to come in. If that doesn't, other numbers around 0 usually come in within the next couple of spins.
I had a go on one quickly a few weeks ago while I was in Hebden Bridge & I needed a piss so I thought I'd use the bookies and have a quick spin. £5 on red... came in, walked off!
They're actually ok to use just for some mild amusement like that. Get sucked into them and you're in a world of pain. & a lot of people do.

These work on random number generators that feed the same number to every machine. It's nothing to do with the machine wanting to pay out.
The dealers aren't arsed about making money out of them, which is the point of the article. They cover their bets more or less so their loss is minimal & it cleans their cash.
Maybe some do spunk all their hard earned crack money into them! But the main point is it's about laundering the money easily.

(Obviously not if you lose and just fuck off)

So I've heard yeh, might just be Chinese whispers!

FFS you will still be up :killinme: :D
Is that why the shops are clamouring for; more stations so everybody can leave up, with a fantastic system :aargh: clueless :band:

Has maths suddenly changed?!
As has been pointed out, it will probably work for a bit but will only get you so far before it claws it back.
The reason they're springing up everywhere is fuck all to do with that. Most people just bang all their money onto the numbers & either win or lose! Obviously the odds are in favour of the machine.... so they make decent profits.
