www.standard.co.uk/news/education/tatler...schools-9036470.html
Society magazine Tatler has published its first ever guide to state schools because private education is becoming too expensive for its readers.

Next month’s edition will feature a list of the best 30 state schools and readers are urged to do “everything you can” to get a place at one of them.

The magazine has published an annual guide to the top private schools for the past decade but this is the first time it has produced a state school guide.

London dominates the list, with the magazine’s top five state secondary schools all in the capital.

Holland Park school is named as the best secondary, followed by the West London Free School in Hammersmith, Tiffin School in Kingston, Henrietta Barnett in Hampstead Garden Suburb, and St Marylebone C of E school in Marylebone.

Honeywell Junior school in Wandsworth is named as the best primary school, followed by St Mary Abbots in Kensington and Coleridge primary in Haringey,

The guide states: “We are not idiots. We know that Tatler is the last place you might expect to find a guide to state schools. But consider this: to put two children through the private system costs around £600,000 – that’s £1.2 million before tax. And is private really superior? Not always, not any more.”

It said that children who go to state schools will be better prepared for the real world, adding: “And best of all, when you do finally get into the Cabinet, everyone will love you because you didn’t go to Eton.”
I wonder if the school I went to will make the list...

So it's our public duty to slap them about? Nice.

I've known and still know some very nice, honest and caring posh people who most definitely don't deserve to be slapped about.

I agree but I don't think that the suggestion was serious. I remember a thread entitled "faces that need a slap", and I don't think that was serous easier.
