Mind you I am reminded of what someone said to me when I first moved near to Glastonbury years ago (well away from there now thankfully). They said, "There are plenty of good people here but you won't find them out on the street".

What I mean is and I hope no-one takes this the wrong way, the internet tends to draw out those with negativity. Google toothache and you will find posts by plenty of people saying how they had a bad experience at the dentist. Very few that have had a good experience will go online and post. The same applies if you are researching cars or anything else in my experience. The moaners tend to be more vocal online. I think this sort of applies to the DIF

That's because very few actually DO have a good experience with dentists, surely? :P

But seriously, yeah,I agree. Sometimes I wonder if it's something about the internet/being on a computer in general, that lowers one's emotional and mental state to begin with,or - makes someone more susceptible to getting into angry bad moods.

I know I can sometimes be in a great mood until I turn on the computer >_<

Tiz a fair point well put :)

EG, I mentioned dentists cos I went today. I've had an absess that wouldn't clear up so today the dentist decided to pull the tooth. Problem was the tooth was good and had a good strong hold. She was swinging on it like a kid in a playpark trying to budge it. So much that the bugger snapped, which caused her to kind of punch me in the other side of the mouth with the forceps :D. I wasn't ecstatic about it shall I say!

Oh god, please stop! My skin is literally trying to turn itsef inside out now :O (dentists are my one big phobia, hahaha). That sounds AWFUL. At least it's over, you're much braver than I could be :)

I haven't actually been to the dentist for about nine years, and I need to,because I have a broken wisdom tooth that periodically gives me hell. But it has to get to the point where the pain outweighs my fear of the dentist, and that means I can take a lot of pain... Had an absess pop in my mouth once. The taste is beyond hideous

Haha I'm the same with them. This absess was grieving me enough to push me into depleting my Tramadol reserves though so it had to be done :)

+1 on the taste of absess. Bloody yuk. Just like the taste of local anaesthetic. I had my wisdom teeth out about 3 years ago and the dentist missed the gum with one injection. Shot it all over my tongue. Was literally gagging and retching in the chair :D

This is what I meant earlier about negative sods on tinterweb, I've just proved my own point :D

To address your points domathy :)

Firstly I respect all you have had to say - You appear to just be asking reasonable questions and asking for clarification - which all of us can relate too considering what we have been asking for from sean.

My personal feelings about Icke are rather ambivalent - I do not personally know the man nor have I had any interactions with him so can only go by secondary sources which may or may not carry their own bias.

I suspect that Icke knows how the admin team run his site - I have issues with the way the site is run. That does not mean I think icke is a wanker or that he doesn't provide a service.

My issues are as follows....

There is a difference between hate speech and freedom of speech - without getting into the merits of freedom of speech it is my belief that with rights such as freedom of speech comes a responsibility not to be a shit. I suspect that in my time I have offended people - no one can entirely second guess whether what they do or do not say will be found offensive by someone else - there is however a line where any reasonable person knows the way they are presenting their beliefs is likely to cause upset.

Currently at the DIF there is unfettered and nurtured extreme views that whilst people are perfectly entitled to hold the way in which they present them is offensive and against the forum guidelines. Guidelines that were put in place by the admin team.

There is an incongruity in which the rules are applied and enforced - you cannot protect hate speech under the guise of freedom of speech and then silence anyone who says something about it - that is hypocrisy too far imho.

Rules are changed in order to react to criticism as opposed to rules changing after mature, open and considered discussion between the team and the community. How can anyone talk of people being sovereign whilst the site is a dictatorship? I understand that decisions need to be made and that sometimes not everything can be discussed and voted on - however the people who make up the DIF community either pay in cash or in time to be a part of it and the forum itself serves as a great advertising space for ickes work. How can we possibly come together as a community and be the change in the real world if we cannot do it on a forum? The answer is we can do it and are doing it - and it is the DIFs eternal shame that in order to do it we needed DG and others to provide this arena in which to do it.

How can we rail against invasion of privacy by governments and big business on a forum that employs the same tactics?

How can we possibly say infinite love is the only truth with a straight face - and about ridding ourselves of the ego when the person who espouses this says stuff like
I couldn't care less what they say because they are a bunch of irrelevant, self-indulgent navel-contemplators who are doing the Illuminati's job for them by seeking to undermine any researcher who commits the crime of actually getting the information out to the mainstream public.

For them, it is not about exposing manipulation and injustice, nor serving the greater good, it is about finding a vehicle for their own bile and hatreds. What deeply sad people they must be to have so much bile and hatred to hurl at their daily targets. How acidic their bodies must be by now, let alone their minds.

I feel for them, imagine living with that every day.

They are just cowards who hide behind log-in names to spew out their hatreds from their gutless anonymity. They have balls the size of processed peas and the word pathetic does not even begin to suffice.

I have already done more to inform the public worldwide, and change lives for the better, than these people will do if they live to be a thousand. That's all that matters to me, not the trash that is constantly hurled in my direction.

This was directed at the illusions website - who were threatened with legal action after posting some videos from youtube from icke - this was at the same time as the DIF was being set up so many websites and facebook pages that were not 'officially' endorsed were strong armed into either not mentioning icke or were shut down. Tactics big business have used against independents to the detriment of us all - creating monopolies which help no one.

That icke earns substantially more then the average person - I couldnt care less about - he works hard and if people want to buy it that is their choice - he can earn 10, 100, 1000, 1000000 a day I don't care - what I do care about is being treated like an idiot by those perpetuating the myth that he is in penury. It is a bit like people trying to tell me that the queen is poor - I know it isnt true - and I don't like being lied to.

Thats enough for now the pooch needs to be let out - but will address more stuff as I think of it.

In short my issue is not with icke as such it is with hypocrisy and nastiness.

Thanks for your reply. I don't have time to reply to all points as fully as I would like to, but just want to say that I do totally agree with what you are saying about free speech. ALso that I know I contributed to the negativity at DIF because I sensed it was a sinking ship and out of frustration just thought to hell with it and on reflection do feel somewhat ashamed.
And yes, all this stuff reflects badly on Icke, which is why im not convinced it is calculated on his part as, if he is a businessman, then its not very good for business is it?
But now he has a choice; 1) go for integrity, and fund the site himself so the people who think he's a quack can chit-chat in peace and choose the direction of the forum (and implient some kind of entrance exam or censorship or pull the plug altogether)
or 2) just go for the bucks and allow people to say what they want as long as that doesnt invlove challenging a moderator. Sorry, not a very well balanced list but Im at least trying to view things from all angles.

For me, the decision that Icke and his "works" were insubstantial and predominently plagiarised came from having read many, many, many of the same types of writers. The big difference was that the other writers had LIVED what they taught - they had travelled many routes and tested many methods before they sat down to write what they believed in and (importantly) how is could be used for the benfit of those interested.

I too have travelled many routes and tested many methods in the yawning years since I dumped Catholicism some 42 years ago, when I was 13 (yes, yes, yes, I'm 55 now :P ). The only thing Catholicism taught me was how to spot false teaching pdq. Look for the contradictions; look for the tutor that has never learned the subject; look for the parrot that just repeats what it heard somewhere else. The Flapdoodlers Chopra, Hay, Tolle and their ilk all smacked of that phoney kind (and I threw their works over my shoulder and left them where they dropped); and Icke did the same. It is simply reworked and insubstantial versions of the writers who might be found here:

www.newthoughtlibrary.com

but who lived and dedicated themselves to their beliefs and teachings WITHOUT terrifying anyone and drawing out of the id long dormant fears of possession and soul eating demons.

I remember by the time I got to him "explaining" in I Am Me, I Am Free how he had met Pamela (the reptilian shape-shifter he didn't know was one... until their divorce 6 years on) and told Linda (his first wife) that she was interfering with his not being able to expand his Universal Love to the full.... :D I'll give him this - as an excuse for not being able to keep it in his pants, it was original at least :D

I dislike Icke not because of his nasty, controlled, controlling forums; but because, like Chopra et al... he sticks in my craw the more I try to swallow him.

But this is only me. Do NOT think I would think low about or sneer at anyone who chose to like or believe him. Each to his own.

:)

I get what youre saying, but I dont understand the plagerism bit. Everything in his books is referenced - and all he's done is pull together ideas and research from other authors and then add in the reptillian influence as the 'missing link'and to put things into context. And IMO he is adding to, not detracting from the work of others - as people hit a brick wall with their theories if they refuse to acknowledge the mataphysical aspect of the conspiracy. His strength is being able to articulate big ideas in a way that people can understand, nothing more.

As for the assertion that he inspires fear in people, well, that depends on the individual i suppose. I found the reptillian aspect interesting and actually helped me get clear about some suspicions I had about the nature of reality. I slept alone on dartmoor for about 5 years, having full knowledge of (and belief in ) 'the reptillians' and didnt feel threatened or fearful. Nor did I fear for my soul being eaten as what he really says is that they feed off low vibrations (in the same way some humans do)

Perhaps your fearful reaction to Ickes theories is rooted in your history of catholicism and make you a bit too suspicious? I mean that with respect - because I know what Cathlicism does to people. My ex GF cut her wrists and painted the word 'contradiction' on the wall in blood which related to how her Catholic upbringing had totally confused her, and she struggled to use her intuition with much accuracy as a result.

Personally I never subscribed to religion nor got caught up with the Chopras or Tolles. My parents followed a cult with an Indian guru leader and I was educated by nuns - so Ive been able to see what happens when people surrender their power to another. Despite being a 'seeker' I never felt comfortable with anything offered by the mainstream/newage and felt uneasy with all the new age gurus (always sensed an agenda or some spin). All my guidance has come from intuition and prolonged silence - but even at meditation retreats the 'teachings' went in one ear and out the other as I always knew my learnings would never come from another. So unlike you I never travelled any routes, as I knew it was all inside me alread. All im trying to say is I don't sense any agenda with Icke as I dont feel his theories trying to pull me down any route or steer me in any direction - and my intuition is loud and clear on that as its a rare thing and unmistakable for me anyway (cant say the same about the forum, but then I seem to be the only one making a distinction). and as for the money aspect, ive bought a few books for next to nothing and the rest of the info was free online, so I just dont get the thing about him being in it for the money.

The thing is, its impossible to please everyone, and I just think its harsh to judge Icke because of his forum - when there is every chance he doesnt fully know the nuances of what goes on with the moderation.

@ domathy: I think you read me wrong back there... I have no fear of "reptillians", demons, monsters, devils, Catholic Gods, pagan gods and goddesses, faeries or anything like them.

And neither do the writers icke plagiarises.

And Icke's reptillian stuff has no basis in him ever having met or seen one, only on what he has been told (although he claimed that it turned out his second wife was a shape shifting one... which he didn't know until their divorce. D'uh!).

But anyway, enough from me about Icke. You like him. I don't. All's well.
