Somewhat predictably a week of temperatures in the mid 20's has dried everything, then today the seemingly welcome wind arrived and inevitably we now have the first fires of the summer :(

There's one close enough for us to be keeping an eye on the news. We're not at the loading up the car stage yet but it's fair blowing out there tonight so owt could happen. And we're relatively safe where we are due to previous fires destroying most of the surrounding forest :(

Well as there are plenty of unemployed fuckers in Greece, get them a shovel and dig some fire breaks. The rest can help the fire brigade with some bush beating :O

I'm not unduly concerned for our safety until I need to be (ie. when it reaches our mountain) but it's heartbreaking when you see the forests being destroyed as well as homes. And they regularly seem to happen in areas that can't be developed (despite the wishes of some) as they are protected forests, one forest fire later and the argument is there is no forest to protect :(
