It's persecution in the guise of 'helping people back to work'. I don't believe there are enough jobs out there anyway. The unemployed figure is probably 4- 5 million and the economy is in a mess despite idiot politicians talking it up all the time. It seems to me the country is in a fix and there are no political answers so they invent some, and of course the tabloids and TV media lap it up.

I note that RT broadcasts a few home truths about Britain and America, unlike the BBC and ITV output - which also is so insular it's insulting. Still, keep up the soaps and game shows, eh?

I was talking to my son earlier about the protests at the Tory conference

He asked 'what are they protesting about' stopped for a minute then said 'no reason required'

They're getting better though. Proposed new idea of no benefits to under 25's ....that's a good plan isn't it

I put this very issue (national service) to my mate recently. He has kids who will be within age range and his answer surprised me somewhat, being as how he reads tabloids n shit. He said he'd do a bunk with all of them before he'd let them serve, no matter the motivation.

I do wonder though just how much/little media spin it would actually take for him and others like him to do a complete u-turn. Then, you also have to counter in the effect of said spin on our poor, disaffected (and no doubt by this time, very hungry) 'yoots'.
