This is direct brain interface technology and you are seeing it reported in the news right now as if its not a big deal...

I have to stress that bit :)
I think a lot of people don't notice how fast this is progressing.

Indeed, or just how much further on the tech is in the labs.

neuromancer here we come.

maybe the logical progression of this will be to eventually discard our meat in favor of .......
i dunno, shifting biometal nano bot forms.

but hey... thats for my great great great great grandkids to worry about. i'll be a rusted pile of old tech, squeaking around with my brain in a jar and hydraulic limbs by that point.

I don't think there is a more relevant user name for this topic than yours. Ghost in the shell is eerily close to what the future of humanity could be like. Humanity is already hacking the brain and consciousness of one another.
Form is merely a momentary manifestation of being, not a fixed reality.

History doesn't repeat itself, uninformed people repeat history.

To all progressive endeavors great or small, come unforeseen benefits on a scale larger than most give pause or contemplation of.

The human race is not yet mature enough to deal with transhumanism, especially given that we have not yet dealt with stuff like the economic paradigm. We cannot possibly be expected to deal with the mysteries of consciousness itself if we can't manage to sort out banking :)

I agree with you completely, Andy. I share that same sentiment with a lot ventures our species is involved in. That doesn't stop others from trying though.

Here's another related report. This one kind of reminds me Geordie from Star Trek.
