What the heck do these words mean? I have no idea... Except crescendo, that's used as a musical term, although I don't remember what it means either.

A crescendo's a build up to a climax - music / tension etc.

That Pompey thing doesn't mean anything, I don't think, so ignore that one. :D

You're welcome.

And I just wanted to add that the charientisms employed around here produce as much cachinnation as the more frequent borborygmus. Thank heavens we're not plagued with aeolists though, even when gambrinous on a Friday night - though some are guilty of tetraplyoctomy. There are other sites which appear to be filled with jumentous slubberdegullions, who when aren't being inanilouent, seem to be intent on gymnophoria. :fluffy:

I fear it's a bit too late for that Hex, and once you start posting never-used Finnish words?

This could end up being a silly thread..............

Hmm... Finnish words that never get used any more, I could think of few of those.

Here it goes:
Metla = A broom in old east Karelian dialect.
Nasta = it's used, but not in the old meaning, it means a pin(with which you attach stuff on somthing usually on walls), the old meaning is dialect word for "cool" or "fun".
Tupluurit = a nap.
Tampuurimajuri = Small rug placed just inside the frontdoor of a house.
Förskotti = A wage payed early, this is actually swedish word, there's ton of swedish words turned into dialect finnish, mainly used in south.
The things you leave behind, you find in front of you.
