RESPECT

Hey, what’s the story and what’s the crack?
I am white and you are black.
God made me and God made you,
Respect is what we got to do.
We cut our fingers, we bleed the same,
Different colours but different names.
We have things in common,
We like fun and games,
We run, we jump, we hop and skip,
And let no bad words pass our lips.
Because respect is what we got to do,
Repect from me and respect from you.


If you are being slagged because of your hair colour
or the colour of your skin or your language, don’t try
to slag them back and hurt their feelings.
Just say you’re proud, move on and find new meanings.

OUR HEARTS ARE ALL THE SAME

I go to school in Tallaght
And Darragh is my name
My classmates come in different colours,
But our hearts are all the same.

When I’m in the yard and hear
The bullies call children names,
Just because they’ve different skin,
It shows they have no brains.

Black, yellow white and brown,
We all should take a stand,
Say ‘NO’ to racism in Erin’s Isle,
And the world will be just grand.

In the world today there are many skin types,
If it were up to me there would be no hype,
Black or white, yellow or brown,
You should not look at people with a frown.
We are all the same, the colour of our blood,
You should not throw other races in the mud.
So it really doesn’t matter, the place of our birth,
If we all realise we’re from the same earth.

I think racism is very bad,
In fact it is quite sad,
It is also very cruel,
And should never be heard as a rule.
In my school, we are all good friends,
And will remain that way until the end.
People of all colours should live in peace
Irish, Romanians, Africans and Greek.

MY FRIEND WEE

I have a friend called Wee
Who lived very close to me.
He is from Vietnam,
He came here with his Mam,
He was very, very friendly.

But the sad thing that happened to me,
I lost my best friend called Wee.
Kids threw stones at his door,
And threw muck on his floor,
Just because he didn’t look like me.

It made me so sad,
And it drove his mum mad,
That he had to move away from me.
If only those boys knew Wee
And his lovely family,
Being racist drove them away,
Bullies got the last say,
Now they’re gone back to their country.

Or the colour of my skin,
It shouldn’t matter how I pray,
Or what God I believe in

It shouldn’t matter what food I like,
Or what clothes I like to wear.
It shouldn’t be about my style

ANTI-RACISM POEM

Racists are a serious problem
So what can we do to try to stop them?
For all those people
Who slag another culture
To see their face starting to sculpture
Into a face of rage and madness
It fills me up with a horrible sadness.

If we let this go any more
The feelings of those slagged
Will feel very sore.
I don't know why they just won't stop,
What do they want, a lollipop?

They have nothing better
to do with their time,
But be racist which is like a crime!
Little do they know, they are just plain dumb,
Slagging people and chewing their gum.

If you are one of those
Slagged by the insane,
Dont be afraid to tell teacher
and complain!
those bullies don't care how you feel,
Because they just want you to squeal.
