Mountain, that beetle you have in the picture, wow, it's cool, how big it is? In the picture it looks huge... But it's bit hard to say, there's not much to compare it to.

Oh it was about maybe an inch and a quarter long. Yes the pic makes it look super bigger ....

And I always thought that bears were very gentle creatures in nature, thanks for sharing that :)

So.... I was taking my usual walk down to the river in the early evening. I had to go pee, and knew I would not make it home because I was about a mile away. There was a huge white boulder that would hide me from the houses across the street. I ducked behind it and did my business and moved on.

The next day, when I got to that area, a big white dog came bounding out to me, all excited. I had never seen him before, but he acted like he knew me. Then he ran across the street jumped up and that boulder and started barking very loud.

He was saying that he knew what I had done the day before. He was very proud of his mad skillz, but I got embarrassed and walked away as quickly as possible.

Big mouth dog.

Yesterday, I was walking my dog and came across a butterfly in the middle of the dirt road. His wings looked a bit tattered so I got him to climb on my finger so I could move him out of the road. Well, he didn't seem to want to get off my finger so he hitched a ride, eventually working his way up my arm. He hung out for a good bit, then flew off near some muscadine vines.

I love the title of this thread.

This afternoon I was watching some little wittle birdies flitting about and I saw that they were blue tits. Then I saw something that looked like a blue tit, but even prettier and with a narrower, longer beak. One of these birds took up position on the side of a dead tree and started pecking it to search for insects. Like a woodpecker I thought to myself. The next moment a woodpecker flew on the scene, chased away the pretty bird and took over with the pecking as only a woodpecker.

We used to have some woodpeckers in the garden a few year back, even different varieties, but this is the first I've seen for a while and it all happened so smoothly in tune with my thoughts. Thank God I wasn't thinking of anythng more dangerous... Like Henry Kissinger for example. Yuk!

I love woodpeckers! Sometimes, when I'm out in the yard, I can hear them hammering away at a tree. It sounds like somebody is working on their house. :)
