I'm still fine-tuning my queue analogy. In trying to explain it to mrs oioioi I came up with "Imagine a queue for bread, you join it to get your daily bread, the day your bread doesn't arrive is the day to join the bread makers queue".

I was thinking about the analogy, I'm glad you brought what the queue was for into it, bread.
I would say from a socialist/,Marxist perspective the queue would organize as a single mass, take ownership of the bakery and then produce and distribute according to the need with each playing a part in the production of the bread, everyone would be fed and working towards that aim removing the need for queue at all.
As soon as the first 12 people got in a queue they could get to baking, the next twelve could do the same, the next twelve could distribute the loaves of the first twelve, the next twelve could start baking, the next twelve could distribute, etc etc. :spam:

In some parts of Europe they still have communal ovens for baking, waiting in a queue for bread or food is probably still quite a foreign concept for some people.

Was thinking about a post office under pure communism, how the process might work? :mail:

In the Socialist/Marxist approach to the bread queue, I pity the poor sods that end up with the bread I've baked. Try as I have, baking and cooking is just not a skill I've been able to become even vaguely proficient at. I can make things that are edible but certainly not what you'd call nice :emb:

Then you will be sent to gulag my friend for re-education!!
But it shows there would be another roll  for people to play, teaching the art of baking, and learning the art of baking are activities I propose under a socialist system would also replace queuing :cavalier

p.s:I've found the wetter the bread mix the nicer, airier the bread, also leaving it to prove a few hours helps with this, i'm still trying to find a decent yeast.

We have world poverty and famine issues, hard-working people working for little or nothing just to get by.

I believe that as a species, we have so much potential and that we are not encouraged to even realise that we do. Ofcourse, we enter educational centers very young and are basically taught enough to keep the system currently well-oiled in varying areas. It doesn't encourage self-education nor does it nurture feelings of compassion.

And many will begin to get out there and it seems to become all man for himself. Modern society is very much a dog-eat-dog world. Somehow this is strange to me. Does the system do something to us to make us become selfish and cold? I see business men with suits sometimes just stepping over homeless folks as if they are debris on the ground while I driving downtown.

When I hear of how many billions of dollars are spent on this building project and that, I literally feel nausea when I think of what that could have bought for many. knowing how much money is thrown away and wasted on nothingness. Although, they say its all numbers on a screen, those numbers could do a whole lot right now in this current system. But its paying for warheads.

What are important things that humanity needs to realise and change? How can we apply the potential that we have to remedy the issues we are experiencing in our world today? What do you feel we can do? Nothing is too fantastic to make happen. Endless possibilities and all that.

Should we walk away from this system that doesn't seem to be working for the whole of us and start fresh, or could we stay within and change it for the better?

By first of all identifying what actually are the major issues to begin with and also what the underlying true causes are.

I've found that being part of a family which possesses good baking skills is the best way for me to achieve nice bread, cakes and biscuits :chuckle: Just as they've found that being a part of a family that possesses good veg growing, mechanical and maintenance skills is the best way for them to live fairly 'cheaply' :chuckle:

Oh yes indeed. I have been aware of some of the problems for quite some time and they appear to be quite simple to resolve, yet complicated at the same time like some already suggested on this thread. I feel that we will have to do some work on ourselves, do what we know is right. I haven't mentioned in my original post the elite people of the world but i am going to briefly touch on that right now. We do not need them. Quite the contrary.

It is all upto us, including them. I am trying not to make this into a us VS. them post. We need purge out the elements that are poisoning us on many levels and for us to make the right choices. Humanity is very intelligent and we should know by now not to repeat history. Embrace our fellow man and most of all, protect our children, so that they know love and never be broken. The current system seems to be set up to procure them and break them and that is the main reason I would highly suggest the system gets ditched altogether. It is the screen protecting those who are doing the breaking.

I think consumerism has a lot to answer for. It's a natural progression of the class system. We are conditioned to 'aspire' to a certain status and to accumulate symbols of this, just to let others know...

I think this has led to people becoming disempowered as they have let external factors have too much influence over their sense of self. It's not real is it? It's not like it matters or people can take their accumulated wealth (or lack of it) with them after they die. Consumerism is killing us mentally and emotionally, and it's also killing the planet. CO2 is not the enemy of the Earth, but consumerism is.

Hope that makes sense.

Makes perfect sense to me.
People tend to place more value on external possessions and symbols rather than on their own inner contentment and personal achievements.

To me it makes perfect sense. I like how you put it, thanks for the response!

I think people have become lost in their pursuit for material possessions and the media's version of seeking success.

"Look at me. I am more important."

When they obtain it, they desire more and more and will step on others to obtain it. I have witnessed people that I know personally do this. And something inside of them dies, or rather is put to sleep.

A friend of mines recently told me she spent $125.00 on a hat. (oh because it was cute) I could go in the thrift store and find about ten whole outfits for that! As a woman, ofcourse I love pretty clothes but I believe many women especially are ridiculously splurging on things just for show. Paying thousands for a handbag. Since when did we become this way?

There are things that I would love to have but I am not unhappy because I don't have them and they are of a practical nature, like a cabin and a pick-up truck :P

Who really cares about humanity? Life is about looking after your family and friends .The disease is when we start to see ourselves as a collective force .

Just to add first, excellent thread!

I was having a joke the other day with a Greek anarchist about the Greek lack of respect for a good queue and stated "that's why anarchism will never happen, if people can't queue there's no hope", she laughed. Then I had a smoke and took the analogy up a gear; first we need to be able to queue, then we need to be able to recognise when the queue is unmanageable and be forming another queue to serve the original, now unmanageable queue. That to me is anarchism in a nutshell, and anarchism to me is the way to fulfill human potential.

Yes complete bollocks :D
