Out of the traditional deadly sins (which are encompassed all over the raft of religions and all spiritualities) ...do you think one is any worse or more prevelant than the others?

Can you associate yourself with any of them?

Envy
Greed
Gluttony
Lust
Pride
Sloth
Wrath

Globally I think Greed is the problem

Personally I sometimes have pride and envy

I would question whether lust should appear in that list.
The true measure of a man is not his intelligence or how high he rises in this freak establishment. The true measure of a man is this: how quickly he can respond to the needs of others and how much of himself he can give - Philip K. Dick.

Indeed.

That said lust & sloth for me. In fact I'm at my least slovenly when lustful. ;)

I think lust does count because lusting after something means the object of your desire may not available and lust pushes people to get it/have it whatever the cost

The worst is Pride, especially Spiritual Pride.

I am guilty of about all of them on almost a daily basis except Envy.

That one i am relatively free from.

They all look like normal human emotions from where I'm standing. And it's handy, as there's a different one for each day of the week, so that you don't get bored.

Those 7 sins are irrelevant. Man made constructs to control the masses...I don't know, I'm just saying things, but I'm probably right :D

Greed is indeed a problem though, greed is bad, fuck you Gordon Gekko.

You don't need to inform any man of this, Dawn, I assure you!

I think it's good to live without envy BTW, but it's a perfectly natural human emotion. When I think about the seven deadly sins, I tend to think of the Rudyard Kipling poem 'If':
IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
Could anyone actually do that? Could Kipling himself do that? It seems to me that while it's good to keep the seven things in the list down to a bare minimum, actually eliminating all seven of them completely is bordering on impossible.
The true measure of a man is not his intelligence or how high he rises in this freak establishment. The true measure of a man is this: how quickly he can respond to the needs of others and how much of himself he can give - Philip K. Dick.

I think most if not all people cover most of these "sins". I don`t think seeing them as sins is too healthy but at the same time it is good to be aware that these feelings can be destructive. I think like most things it is about moderation and balance. When I say moderation I am not talking about this forum by the way. lolz

As for the world and what is wrong with it perhaps all of the above in abundance.

Light hearted playful arrogance is the 8th deadly sin. :D

The thing is, who hasn't experienced all these emotions? It's one thing to keep them in check, and not allow any of them to rule our behaviour, but it's another to supress and deny their existence.

How come murder isn't a deadly sin? It's the only one that would make sense to me.

The biggest sins seem to be missing.
Irresponsibility.
Selfishness.
Apathy.
Ignorance.

Of course religion woudn't bother to mention those.

Is wrath not murder? I might be wrong but wrath to me means destroying someone/or something out of anger?
