If you can't relax and post a few things on a particular forum without feeling the need to have a complete exit, you may have been on the wrong forum in the first place.

And when the people on a forum you visit seem aggravating to you or you feel a dislike of them it's time to leave, and find something else to do.

When you can't take things in stride and topics or replies seriously upset you need to think about why your continuing on.
Internet acquaintances become more than you think in my opinion , and the loss of contact can upset you for a long time when you leave and move on, I experienced this very intensely when leaving online gaming environment, which I was seriously addicted to.

But my best to all whatever you choose to do, no one can decide for you, if you need this in your life or not, but in my opinion if your taking people to seriously maybe you can mellow a little and enjoy things less intensely in my humble opinion, thank you for listening to my rant

Rick, I'm not having a go at you, but your post is a bit ambiguous. It's on Boots' 'Bye' thread, and Boots wasn't guilty of any of those things you spoke about (taking others too seriously etc). He gave his, very good, reasons for not being able to get on the internet - i.e. time needing to be spent with his family, and moving away for work.

I feel it's aimed at other people, and either has nothing to do with Boots' departure (which needs to be clarified) or you didn't read this thread.

I used to be a serial leaver :chuckle: A bit attention seeky I was :emb:

These days I'll just not sign in. The only reason I can think of to tell people you're leaving, is so they don't worry or wonder where the hell you went :chuckle:

If people are genuinely worried it's not that hard to find out, someone on the forum will know some contact details etc.

^ That's true, Irre. If Boots had suddenly done an unannounced vanishing act, I would have been concerned. I do have an email address for him, but I'm not even sure whether it's current.

There was a regular poster on another forum who I got on really well with, and she suddenly just stopped posting 3 or 4 years ago. She was in dire straits financially, so I expect she just couldn't afford to keep the internet going, but I still think about her now, and have a bit of a fret over her well-being, because she was very practical, and I'd have thought she'd find some way to let us know that her circumstances had changed. I hope nothing bad happened to her.

That's why it's important to have a line of contact outside of forums Gilly. It's not always something you think about though because if you're used to interacting all the time on a forum, you kind of take the person's presence there for granted.
That's why I make sure to swap contact details with people I really, really want to stay in touch with :)

I've said it before and I'll say it again...ragnarok is like the benchmark for disappearing acts :chuckle: He just vanished one day, without a trace, no-one seems to know what happened to him. It's a mystery, and one I still think about from time to time. He was a popular poster on Icke.

There can be many reasons why people come and go, or more importantly just disappear, they may just be the kind of person that adopts the attitude of easy come easy go, they may not feel as sincere about you as you do about them, they may also be up to no good, or they may be doing a job, but, whatever you do, I would advise against giving out your phone number.
