I have been on the bench for some time now and so I might be forced to hit the road for work. Georgia does not like me too much. So I might be headed to Iowa.

I would like to travel the states but had never really thought of Iowa as a place to see. Sadly though that is where work is and I can't take my family with me. It won't be for long really but anytime away from my family is tough.

Hopefully I can make bank at least. This is a pointless topic really.

Do you live out of a motel when you go on these jobs. or do you stay long enough to rent a apartment, just curious?

Most likely a hotel. The job pays $370 a week per diem so I can either get a half decent hotel to myself or a shitty one and make some extra or share and make extra. Some guys get apartments some guys who travel a lot take campers.

It's crappy having to leave your family behind to get work. Needs must though, I suppose. I hope something comes up for you without having to do that.

What's a motel 6 go for a night now in the area your heading to, and also I hope you do well and get back to your family as soon as you can.

No idea about motel 6 in iowa but the one I stayed in whilst in south Carolina was about 200 a week corporate rate. The place had mice though so I left for Howard Johnson which was more money but much cleaner.

I might even have to share the first week if I can.
The hardest thing about travel for work is being away from my family though. I leave tomorrow morning and hopefully I can come back soon.

I will send a postcard.

Iowa isn't too bad. I don't see much of it but the people seem friendly. Most guys at work are traveling from various states. Painting a torus in a nuke is an experience. No actual painting is happening yet but I look forward to heading back home.
