To be honest, Derren, there's a few people I'm pretty sure I could convince that there's an apocalypse coming, and there would be no hypnosis necessary.

I have to admit to liking this individual. He's the only type of person of this nature that appeals to me. There's just something about him and he's damn good at his profession.

The most revealing thing about NLP is if anybody says they would like to use it, they have just told you that not only are they manipulative, but that they also lack the sense to hide the fact.

No matter how good you are, though, you can't hypnotise or use NLP against just anyone. Selecting the suggestible person is as important, if not more so.

If somebody did not find me attractive without me having to use NLP, I would rather they didn't.

I was sent to a course on NLP with my best mate for a "management training" dau back in the ninetees.

We decided to call it Anal Pee just to see how "together" these guys were.

Needless to say, they went ballistic.

But in a vindictive way.

The bloke in question followed his complaints up for months.

He eneded up being a closet Scientologist.

And a wingnut.

Walked, talked and dressed like a hippie but.

Go figure

...talked about how attending some kind of NLP course saved her when she was on the brink of suicide. She reckoned she was able to use NLP to get through to one of her sons, who was autistic & had various other mental problems - and how it can be used by people to empower themselves.

I thought she gave an interesting talk, which covered things like the power of words, and the roots of language etc., though, as she'd given up some highly paid job to become an NLP trainer, I did wonder if she had any involvement in CP.

She came across as extremely intelligent, warm and witty.

Towards the end though, it all became very queer indeed, imo, as she described some kind of NLP induced epiphany she'd had during her training. She reckoned she'd never been religious, but this 'exercise' they did was to somehow open their minds up to recognise truths - she'd suddenly, spontaneously come to the conclusion that the 'truth' was God. Resulting from this 'realisation', she claims she experienced some kind of altered state of perception for several days, whereby she felt euphoric, and was able to observe everything around her as masses of moving particles.

Although Brown's entertaining, I don't make a point of watching him, because most of what I've seen from him could only be possible if staged with a stack of collusion involved, with pretend, random members of the public.

And the only trick that stuck me was the editing: lots of shots of people in the audience looking inetersted/amused/amazed at a fucking drab lot of nothing about the man's shoe

Needless to say, it was about as effectual on me as canned laughter on Last oi The Summer Wine
