What do you like weights, aerobics, yoga, martial arts, bike riding running walking etc............even if you just do it once or twice a week at the most for a few minutes, which type of workout activity do you enjoy.

I like walking and bike riding, and don't enjoy weights at all, a few of the gym machines are tolerable but not many.

I've done nothing for the last few months, but usually walk the dogs for about an hour a day, play badminton once or twice a week, and go to the gym 2 or 3 times a week. Also ride a bicycle around when the weather's fit.

I hate aerobic machines, and like the weight resistant ones - not heavy weights, but lots of reps. Seem to have weak shoulders, but could crush people to death with my thighs without much effort. :D

When my stitches are out, I'll need to do a lot of work to trim down & tone up, after sitting about, expanding for 4 months.

Circuit training, high intensity interval training, martial arts, yoga and walking are my favourites. Doing the same thing all the time gets really boring for me. Now the bronchitis has cleared up I can get back on it.

Shadow boxing, pressups, squats (without weights...still knackering) bit of walking, weights occasionally, when the mood takes me, usually if I'm angry or frustrated. It's good to bust out some shoulder presses to release my stresses...I almost injured myself a little bit last time though :chuckle: used a bit too much weight.

The key to exercise is the 'C' word...Consistency... :umm: :emb: Without consistency, one is pissing in the wind. It's why I still have a spare tyre, and have never reached my full physical potential.

Luckily I have a job that keeps me pretty fit(ish). I've always prefered physical work to being a desk-jockey even if it means loosing out in the pocket department.
I was a bit of a sport Billy in my yoof but I'm getting far to old for sport now. I keep um-ing and ah-ing about going to a gym and I really should make an effort.
Big round of applause to all that take their physical wellbeing seriously.

The problem with quitting smoking is that it's almost impossible to not gain weight. It's not even about food, but heavy smokers do have an increased metabolism and smoking does help you to stay slim - I don't care what anyone says, it's a fact. It's a double edges sword. Your cardiovascular fitness improves when you quit, but you can also put on a fair bit of weight.

I'm going to do a work out in a bit!

A few years back i gave up smoking, lost so much weight the doc had me in for every test under the sun, i was so paranoid about getting so skinny, i used to turn up in para boots heavy leather jacket and bags of coins in my pocket, just so he'd get off my back.

Weights & Cardio.

Free-weights (dumb-bells and bench press) 2 - 3 times per week (two days off between lifts) and 1 hour a day everday on the exercise bike (two - 30 minute sessions). I love walking and have been going on long walks everyday (2 hours total) for several months now but since this nasty weather has kicked in (surprize, surprize) I've just been hitting the stationary bike and it gives a Hell of a workout! *sweatin' like a pig*

Now, the weights I lift are light-ass baby weights because I'm not trying to get big, I just want to maintain strength and as much lean tissue as possible so that my resting metabolic rate is as high as it can be to burn more calories when I'm not active (during sleep for example). It also helps the cardio along in weight loss/calorie burn.

I have to say though (and probably much to the dismay of many here) that when I quit drinking, the weight just fell off and pretty quick too! And that was before I made any major dietary changes or started working out daily. I've found that (for me anyway) if you're serious about weight loss/fitness then you have to make a decision whether or not you're gonna continue drinking because you can't have both. Now, that's not to say that you can't still drink in moderation but "getting drunk" regularly will kill your fitness goals both calorically AND via hangovers! (I've NEVER worked out hungover and I don't think many people would want to either!)

So, that's my two bright shiny copper coins into this pond of conversation. ;)

i like punching bag, thats my favorite workout. bike is cool too. anything that i can do what i feel like doing and still being a workout is my favorite kind. having to do reps seems like it is a task, but beating the shit out of a sand bag is more freeform

I used to enjoy what I used to do... trying to get back in the routine of doing it (harder done than said)... and I am enjoying chopping wood lately, lets me practice my sword skills with the ax and pretend I'm taking the head or arm or leg off something :coffee:

What I wanna get back to doing and did before was... yoga, shadow boxing/kickboxing, mixed martial arts... toss it all in a blender and mix it all together.
I came into this world kicking and screaming while covered in someone elses blood
and I have no problem with going out the same way
