Can you no longer just be you and need a drivers license or passport to 'prove' your indentity .....the world has seriously gone mad

Can he just say to them that until they prove he is somebody else he is who he says he is?

Birth certificate, driver license, and whatever version of a social security card you have over there should do the trick.
3 forms of ID they don't really argue with. Unless they are all about finger/palm printing everyone.

Personally, just to be a pain, I'd produce 5 fake ID's with passports to match, then whip out the real one and ask them to tell me which one I was and we'd go with whatever their choice was (and smile real big to make sure they got my point).

People have been asking for drivers license and passports for a few years now. To all intents and puropses, they might as well bring out a national ID card. I'm against them, but we basically have the system in place now, apart from in name. At least one card would mean less fannying about.

Sadly I tend to agree Lesley...the national ID card seems the most progressive way forward but there is still part of me who thinks 'no no no that's all a bit intrusive'?

Totally dawnbreak. The idea of a national ID card is frightening, but we're basically already there. I'm the same as you, I think no, but on the other hand, we're already tracked and traced, might as well get it out in the open.

If you guys think, that an ID would solve your 'identity' problems, WRONG! Sooner or later they gonna ask you for a second proof of identity (on top of your officially issued national ID papers/card) to cross check.... it never ends.
Besides; ID cards expire and you’re required to renew them (sometimes under threats of fines/incarceration/court-action), usually at your expense of both: time and money. 10 years average, but it can be 5 years or whatever they want... depending on how much they need that extra cash to balance their finances. Identity cards always end up ‘evolving’ into; yet another form of taxation.

Well no, they know everything about me that I want them to know. We already have international borders requiring passports to travel so how long into a national ID scheme do national borders get restricted?
