My daughter, 2 nieces and m'girl's boyfriend were made to empty their pockets & bags in one of those cheap shops in town a few years back by security. They do this in the shop front in full view of other shoppers, so they were shown up.

They weren't acting suspiciously, and hadn't nicked anything, and the staff weren't even apologetic when this became apparent.

Sarah just told them they were very rude and they won't go in spending money there in future.

Caught a few in my time. Punched by one and been threatened by many. Never known anybody get stripped or anything for it.

That's why I would refuse to do shop security...I would only do manned guarding, static, preferably at night when there's no one around.

Getting involved in violent conflict over a couple of items nicked from a shop, just not worth it.

I once got punched in the face by a girl who came in the shop I managed regularly with 2 lads, trying to rob stuff. They were trying to loosen some security wires off something, so I just went & continued doing a stock-check I was in the middle of, right next to them. It must have irritated her.
