For dress shoes, I like styles that are patterned after 1940s styles; where the top of the shoe covers more of the foot. It makes it more stable for the ankles. Here are some vintage shoes that I would wear:

I'm not sure I'm qualified to answer this question, but I thought the idea was wearing them gives the whole body a 'lift'.

The boyfriend of a friend of mine went to a garage sale held by the local transvestite and bought a pair of hot pink pumps with very high stiletto heels as a laugh.

My friend was in a slump, depressed and all and hadn't smiled or laughed in weeks. I told her boyfriend that I would give him some money if he put the shoes on and go to the grocery store with us. So, he did. He was wearing his usual t-shirt and jeans with those hot pink high heels and it was hilarious! Part of the deal was that he had to act like he was alone so we could stay at a distance and laugh. It was so funny to see how people were looking at him. He knocked over a display of bread on purpose too.... and then stood in the line to checkout, acting very non-chalant about it all. People were afraid to look at him and yet couldn't look away. :rofl:

Here's an entertaining spectacle. Ever been heading down stairs at work, when the heel of one shoe gets inextricably caught in the bottom of the other pant leg, so that you hurtle down, flapping your arms like you're trying to fly, and desperately trying to manipulate your legs, such that they end up plaiting together in flight, only to land on your knees with an almighty thud at the bottom?

I have, and not only does it hurt a very lot, but the look does nothing for your image! :hmm:
