Thoughts?

I personally don't think Bernard was a racist. It was an act, and a very funny one.

Esther Rancid however...well she isn't funny at all is she...quite nasty in fact.

It's a style of humour that's been pretty much outlawed now, where half the fun is that he's presenting himself as a bigot generally, and anyone could be in the firing line (including himself). Personally, I found him funny.

He clearly misjudged her when he thought she could see that it was just an act. But still, I can see why some people would be offended. Like he said, if you don't like it, you can switch off.

Esther's idea of the height of hilarity is to show you a carrot that looks a little bit like a willy.

I think political correctness has a lot to answer for.

I used to like the big cities then, before the divisions really set in.

Manning was always border line, his police jokes were The classic. My view on the Jew jokes were listen but try not rebroadcast, because he was an expert, others may not be, the two chickens joke was clean enough, others not.

Esthers, Thats Life was fairly bang on of how things were at the time, especially the jobs worth, far more fair than manning ever was.

That interview that night, was not love thy neighbour.
