My full intention is to keep taking steps toward a sane way of life. To both give and take help to that end. To continue presenting my views in the main stream media comments. To encourage people to hold their 'leaders' to account. That sort of thing :)

Every year around this time I have lots of deep thoughts and big ideas about the coming year. I don't usually set myself specific goals and I am aware that if I did they would probably be forgotten in no time. So here we are again and I feel for some reason like I should be quitting something or taking something up. Not sure what I could quit although I know a thing or two that I should quit. I doubt I have much time to start a new thing. I guess I will try my best to work as much as possible and provide for my family so that they enjoy the year. My son starts school at some point so that will be a focus.

I might ponder this some more between now an next year.

I don't usually cone up with new years resolutions and don't usually think of them for long when I do come up with them but I am starting to think about being much more disciplined with myself. I feel I have been misunderstood of late and perhaps that is not important anyway. I don't see any point in leaving a website in the same way that you would leave a job but I feel as though this is a relationship that is probably more destructive than productive. I am not 'leaving' but I am going to take a step back. By that I mean that I will be trying to focus on other things more. I need to focus less on negativity. I find much light on this forum but I think perhaps we have grown apart or something. I am not even entirely sure what I am trying to say or why I am saying it. I feel it is best to be honest despite the risk of being perceived negatively.

Does anybody understand what i am getting at?

I do.

I am probably perceived as being a lightweight, fuck-a-bout poster.

The reality is that I have been to the other end of the scale, prior to and throughout the Bush Blair period.
That also coincided with a huge health issue which kept me home and for a while my only contact with the outside world was through my pc and via forums.

That negativity creeps like fucking ivy and engulfs you. You have to fight to consciously prevent yourself from being ensnared and dragged down by the weight of it all. I lost that fight for a couple of years.
It's easy to lose perspective and forget that the world is also full of fun, colour, inspiration and love.

That is why I now make sure I post so much fun and fluff, we need it or none of the rest is worth fighting for.
Step back, reassess, understand that balance is paramount.

ibaster i really don't remember us ever having any problems or any serious conversation about anything so to me all is well I hope for you with me also

I don't really understand how and why some topics get so intense and people get mad at each other here, maybe I don't follow things well but for example I don't understand why RA seems to be on the spot here a lot

We don't really have many posters * the reason I don't have any clues* I guess real life takes the time up for people,

Whatever happens I hope more contribute basically and this is how I feel
I mainly don't understand many of the more serious posters here

bastey, you are a good guy. i think things spiral out of control a lot you know. we all got to give and take or bend and flex. this is sanctum zone, not war zone. everyone needs to chill out, relax. realize that theres a lot of points of view. we can be like two fonzies smoking a hookah, or we can be like piers morgan and alex jones. its our choices.

Or we can be like a tag team, with our particular tactic being to derail stuff and fish for sympathy, and when someone very politely & in a friendly manner requests they stop, we can go off & start another sulky, "Poor misunderstood me", thread, thus actually perpetuating the negativity that we're claiming to dislike.

I feel that needed to be said.

i dont know. look its a forum, i can only solve forum problems. im not a psychologist to solve deep seated issues. my forum solution is we accept everyone has their own opinions. i cant let this turn into some protracted grudge fest so lets all get over this. yesterday was arguments. not discussions, not banter, but arguments and finger pointing and blame. what can we do? i cant force you guys to get along. i cant force everyone to see other viewpoints. but i'd like to ask from this point on can we move forward in a positive way?

I suppose it all boils down to differing views then gilly because I personally don't see it like that. As far as ibaster goes, I think he is misunderstood alot around here and has been unfortunately 'labelled' as a result. What we find ourselves in now, is an escalation of the misunderstanding and this is ibasters way of trying to fix part of it. He's not looking for the sympathy vote. That's not what I see.

I will speak my peace also
I agree with you psketti, he is trying to talk things out about how he feels. instead of wimping out and going inactive, and running off all pissed off like a spoiled child.

Even if you do have a valid reason to back away from a forum why go inactive I don't understand that, and yes not all who leave are wimps or spoiled children a few are in my opinion he's trying to stay and work things out

I see it as a further attempt to manipulate people, so yes, it does boil down to different views.

I didn't fall out with him yesterday btw, but am sick of seeing him trying to portray himself as some kind of victim.
