i was doing it sometimes to link back to forum threads, but now theyve made it so the tweets dont appear on the # pages if the link is to this forum, so its pointless.

ive since deleted most of them that were linking back to the forum... when twitter let it work it would bring in quite a few visitors.

It still works if you link back to articles on the site, (headlines and news pages) but no one is doing that for SZ... but twitter no like the forum.

I don't understand. Was trying to big the place up on there as I have a huge following (3 currently, 2 of which are businesses).

So you can target the more popular or relevant twitter hashtag pages this way and get to many people. You can see which hashtags are trending or figure out which ones are more popular or used for certain topics.

What twitter did, is they changed something, so when you tweet and insert a link back to this forum, the tweet wont show up on the hashtag pages you wanted/put in the tweet.

So not many people would see it.

As i said it still works if the link is back to the articles for some reason.

What do you think happened? Is it a 'conspiracy'?

As i said, the tweets do function normally when a link is made to an article placed on the site, so perhaps they just want to block links to bulletin boards/forums, dunno man.
