I went by canoe with a group back when they were building this lake and it was just the Sabine river, at the bottom you see a picture of the spill way.

Six week trip total about 550 miles from where we put in at to the end of the trip, we camped out on the river bank, but extremely exhausting

I hope to do some swimming this summer there

You're right, I do appreciate that. That's the kind of thing I'd love to do. I'll bet all that fresh air and exercise knocks you out. :)

We made great time the river was up and had about a fifteen mile an hour current which was the big help, the mosquitoes were horrible and it was Louisiana humid hot, I went through about four cans of a product called ting for various heat rashes.

The fun in this one Gilly is looking back on it

I'm fancying something a bit gentler than that this summer, like maybe hiring a narrow boat and exploring round some pretty villages via the canals.

I've always liked that idea too because I have a dislike shall we say, of water and thought this would be ok. I love the 'mellow' appeal it has :)

If it's who I think it is, he'll probably be glad of a lodger.

I want to come too. But only if I can dress and act like a pirate the whole time. :hypo:

I like that idea.

I can splice the main brace and shiver some timbers, so I'm super qualified for such an expedition.

I love those wooden cabins though. There's something really welcoming about them.

If I could afford to get to an area like that, I'd wanna be in a more "natural" place. Looks too commercial for me
