I came across it the other day and on first glance looks to have some interesting videos.

Ive watched a couple on string theory (Brian Greene)and SETI (Jill tarter) and found them interesting.

Does it have a "Show us your nipple" thread?

Hmmm, I'm all for sites and every method of "getting people to think" and understand ideas - and it's a well set-up and interestingly diverse site for its purpose (I've just watched the We The People video lecture and it was entertaining as well as informative).

BUT, I don't think there can be many people left who don't know about the multifarious ideas and theories flying around on any and maybe even all subjects. But it will never bring about change, anymore than any other informative site ever has, until it can get people to DO something about the ideas.

But it's an interesting enough site of its type.

I love the TED site.

Anything which stimulates ideas and furthers understanding is fine by me.

Any decent library will have volumes you admire and volumes you abhor, you need them all.
So if there's bits on TED I struggle with, it's probably doing it's job.

ted never approached me so i am dubious of their true mission goals.
