What stuff did you buy today? How many things in your home says "Made in China?" Was it cheap? Nope, the cheapest stuff in the world has the biggest pricetag, every goddamn time.

I think you guys might have seen these pictures, but here's all that garbage again:

It is sadly very true that cheap costs a lot. It is tough to buy anything made with a sense of responsibility to the biosphere. I try to be as ethical as I can but it is tough. It is also sadly true that unless people reject convenience at the expense of the planet then there will be no change. These pictures clearly show that China is very much capitalist in nature, as if there were any doubt. Oddly big government would be able to improve this situation.

Thank you for posting this Hex.
I for one try my utmost not to buy anything with made in China/Taiwan etc on it. For the very reason you have posted above. The sooner people switch on to how their 'cheap pounds' contribute to such polution that not only affects the people of China, it eventually affects us all.
Of course the whole thing is a lot more complex than just the polution, capitalism always is.

It is not just China that pollutes. Also, as you say, Pollution is just one of the costs.

No excuse for that pollution, no fucking excuse at all.

I don't shop at Walmart because i know better.

But i'm not going to blame the poor people who do shop at Walmart that don't know better,

There is a simple cure for this type pollution.

Don't pollute, just don't do it.

Problem solved. :)

The pyramid system always needs victims,a few generations back it was the workers and cities of UK and now it's China.

UK workers formed unions and their working conditions improved, now it's China's turn, then the industrialists can move the factories to poor parts of Africa and when the government have destroyed the benefit system and workers rights as well as wages have got so bad in the UK they can start here again.

In theory it could be like crop rotation with industries. :ickemullet

Yea, the scale in which they make stuff in China is way over everything else there has been.... There will always be cheap crappy stuff made with a huge impact on people's lives and environment, as long as big markets run the show. The thing that sucks the most in this situation, is that there's no real alternative often times, at least not for me, I'm unemployed and many things cost way too much if it's something really good, usually I can only afford the china-crap.

I've made a choise with my drumstuff, no more made in china garbage. With one exception, Yamaha's hardware, they have their own factory there, it's not one of those giant slave factories as far as I know. But that's the only exception..

Oh, I posted that link in fb, nobody's commenting anything, one guy came... He indirectly defended the cheap china crap empire. I guess he feels guilty for owning chinese made crap drums.

What's shit is that the poorest people can have little choice but to buy what's cheapest which means their poverty is just about managed by virtue of the poverty of others.
