I've been given a cleansing bar called Gamilla Secret......it's a soap that's retails at £15. I read the booklet and it is all about how its come from Galilee and an Israely grandmother, which got my thinking .

24 years ago I looked at goods and avoided them if they where from Israel
Now I just seem not to notice/

then I look at my food and I have grapes from Israel , and various other things

I avoided products from Israel in the past due to the palastine situation

Is it ok now or is it still bad?

I think it would depend on the precise source of the product. If it was just a local, independent business then personally I don't see any reason why people living in Israel should be punished for the policies of their government, any more than you or I should be punished for (insert British war crimes here). If it's a big Israeli corporation tied to banking, and thus arms, interests then it would be different.

Boycotting in general is one of those things that has pros and cons. One of our only real powers is the power of our dollars or pounds. If enough people stopped buying the products you mentioned then perhaps Israel would cease to trade with the UK but would that hurt the people responsible for the crimes of Israel. Not sure about that but I would not try to dissuade you if it was something you felt strongly about. I Boycott various companies and I am aware that it is perhaps just a drop in the ocean but it is the principle.

The soaps on their site are £21-25 btw
and £85 for a bottle of face lotion!!
Haha not even if you had my Ma strapped to a nuke!

Overall I agree with i-baster.
I doubt a soap manufacturer will be having a huge influence on Israeli domestic and foreign policy.

Because the way business is globalised it's really difficult to make a boycott bite like it did in South Africa.
You may boycott this item, but hey they already have the cash for it. You'd only be blockading your own use.
You may refuse to replace it then wander into Currys/Pc World and buy electrical goods.
Dixons Stores Group is owned by Sir Stanley Kalms who ( apart from being the major funder behind the tories for ages), also happens to own power plants in Israel.

Use the soap.

Unless it's made from Palestinians do what your conscience tells you. Boycotts don't have to be official. I used to try and boycott any product I could recall an advert for on a point of principle, there was never a global boycott of products I could recall an advert for...afaik!
