What would be your ideal chosen profession?

A genuine too.... not a fantasy one :D

I would love to either be a Custodian for the National Trust and have a large stately home all to myself to look after....

... or a 'Picker', preferably in the US because of it's vastness and the amount of picking that must still be out there. It would be a great job and I'm very envious of these two inparticular.... they have the BEST job in the world :D

The connection clearly is a love of all things old as long as it doesn't have a pulse :P

I am pretty much doing what I want to - in a perfect world though I would be much more self sufficient and rely more on selling my handicrafts for the bits and bobs I don't make/grow myself rather then having to do the online advice work to make up the difference. That and a parent.
Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known.

If pressed I would opt for anthropologist.

I find people their cultures, (language, migrations, art(s), food, etc) endlessly fascinating.

I'd like to be maybe an artist... a sculptor... I've thought of cool bronze people, around 4 feet high, like two warriors fighting to the death on a mountain top... a man and his pregnant woman embracing each other... not sure why I thought of them, and I'm fucked if I can make them, but they look awesome in my mind :D That counts as a fantasy one doesn't it? :emb:

Real profession... haven't got a clue at the mo :chuckle:

I read a story once about a corporate guy on holiday, He observed a fisherman who woke every morning and went out to fish, he would just catch enough to feed his family, and sell the rest . Then spend the rest of the day just playing with his children, loving his wife, and friends. he was a very good fisherman, and always caught more than anyone else. So our hero approached him and suggested, you have one boat and catch much. With two boats you would catch more, begin to sel outside of the village, expand. Eventually you will have loads of money, and maybe in 25yrs time you will be able to retire, and catch your own......oh fuck :)
Forget yesterday. It has already forgotten you.
