I see no point in the vent room


It's just hiding things away in the way the DIF did

Why do we, this forum, need a vent room where threads go to hidden?

Who are we hiding them from?

I would like to propose a motion that the vent room gets remove

Would this imply also the members private section too?

Isn't it to move rants, inappropriate material, nonsense from people who got banned, etc?

I think it serves another purpose: it allows members who wish to let off steam about stuff in their life that would normally be of little interest to readers of other sections of SZ.

If one feels it is of little interest, then one is free to ignore it.

Why remove it from people who use it?

After that thread out there today?

Not a fucking chance would I vote to get rid.

I've just spent ages down there in the cellar getting it all upcycled and retro'd........make it more comfy like......mainly because I'll be spending a lot more time down there in 2014

I have....or was that on the old Sanctum....might even have been on DI now I think about it....think that's how the vent room came about.......it was quite funny seeing threads started/headed up with expletives!

I remember in the past on another forum, that a very nasty tactic of some rather underhand folk was to deliberately get threads ranted when they didn't go the way they wanted.

I am not saying that was necessarily the case yesterday, but it was the third thread on the same topic within 24 hours that got the flame treatment by the same person.

I'll do it in a bit, about to have dinner, if there are no objections*.
