I am becoming more and more disillusioned with the UK and was curios as to which nations are more enlightened with their general outlook (IE the populace)

If i was to emigrate any ideas?

The stench of corruption is overwhelming.

Its a tough one to make a ranking list but I guess Iceland would have to come top for obvious reasons.

The rest God alone knows :)

Theres aspects of the argument for places like Ireland in some ways but not others, then theres Switzerland in some ways but not others, then Italy too and France. That said Spain and Greece have been hurting for quite a while and we don't know about those fully and ofc there's Malta and Scandinavia.

All have their plus sides and downsides depending on how you look at it.

I saw just as much corruption in Ireland as in the UK, the plus side was I could at least live in a decent house and afford it and still drive on the correct side of the road and speak English so... meh. :D

It's hard to say.

I have lived a lot of my life abroad and I can say for me personally that if you really love another country's culture, language, people, architecture etc then you have a good chance of enjoying the experience and that will outweigh the drawbacks.

As for more "enlightened": Who can say?

Way things are, there soon won't be a place that isn't corrupted to some level so my best advice to you HS is that wherever you go, make sure you're as rural as you can be.

It works wonders for giving you the illusion of being seperate from all the bullshit... with the added bonus of actually being seperate from all the bullshit, even if it's only a few miles away :D

Rurals great for all those people who just can't be fucked with pretence anymore...

The trouble with the UK, is its so densely populated its hard to tell the wheat from the chaff so to speak.
So you get the impression of a pile of chaff..or chav. Cough, lol.

I lived in Australia for nearly 30 years and only came back home 3 years ago and I LOVE it here. It's the best country in the world IMHO. I just wish everybody could see it through my eyes. I know lots of my family and friends don't so I consider myself very fortunate to have my view. :P

We aren't the only corrupted nation in he world. Everywhere is exactly the same. Sure, you might have a honeymoon period where you won't see it but if you boil it down, everything is corrupt.

I'm not suggesting you don't go anywhere, just don't do it looking for a lack of corruption coz you won't find it.

Yes lots of idyllic looking places like tropical beach Bali with lovely friendly peoples for instance have way more corruption than we have here, having to slip back handers to police and Customs, Immigration etc. We haven't sunk to those depths yet.

If corruption is your big issue, then live in New Zealand or the Nordic countries.

Thanks everybody.

Corruption might have been the wrong term.

It's the layers of bullshit that is overwhelming, the pretense, the fact that many people say one thing and do the opposite, the judgmental attitude.

There's too many people with a messed up psyche.

Not saying it's their fault.
