Where to begin. Everything seems very detached and distant. I feel like an observer of humanity. Not a part of it. My social interactions are minimal. I don't want to change this. I see no point in anything really. Everythign is meaningless. I can't see a reason for being. There is nothing new any more. Its all the same bollex I've seen before. Humanity is hopeless. Humanity is dead. The only point is to drink. Without drink there is nothing. Even that has lost its appeal.

You obviously didn't take my advice to go & join a walking club or you wouldn't feel like that. ;)
Fuck the drink off & start doing something to start improving the quality of your life or you will end up feeling like this forever.
If you're having problems with alcohol get some help because it will destroy you and destroy your relationships with others creating a circular problem. ie: drinking because you feel lonely or there is nothing better to do with your time.

Alcohol is a poison.

Moderation is the key,if you can't control yourself stop drinking.

Your surroundings won't change but your health will and hopefully your outlook.

I have a shitty life at the moment but i know if i turned to drink on a regular basis it would get a whole lot worse.

My view is moderation is having a drink once or twice a month.

^What they said.^

Too much booze will just fuck things up even worse. Try to find something to distract your mind from how bad things are, soon you'll be feeling better. Simple things might be enough. A walk, decent sleep etc. :)

It's the first alcoholic drink that's enjoyable anyway and after that it's just a steady slide into oblivion.

The first pint.glass etc.

An alcoholic (not that I'm saying or know that Ian is) should avoid alcohol altogether. Not even aftershave, mouthwash or chocolate liquers.

Ian, you should take small but measurable steps to start altering your life. Make some targets and make them realistic. Use a timescale to achieve your goals.
Sounds like waffle but this does work. I'm the hardest person to motivate to do anything except for :spliff:

Drink will destroy you and those around you. Got a family that loves the stuff and some of them now dead to prove just how much so.
Got a sister who's on borrowed time and its only a matter of the latter before my mum phones me and tells me she's gone.
Lost one of my best freinds in the world too it and this still hurts on an almost daily basis even though it was nearly ten years ago.

I find it truley sickening that something so destructive is sold freely to people of all ages no matter their state of mind at the time, or any predicament they may be in. It's there to fuck you up and fuck you up it will.

I have also lost a friend because of his alcoholism, he committed suicide.... Unemployment, depression and tons of booze to make it worse. I knew he wanted to sober up but he was gone too far and couldn't take it anymore. Some of my relatives have or have had problems with booze as well, one of my uncles is dead because of his excessive drinking and another one is one leg in the grave.

For me personally alcohol works when I'm on a good mood and don't take too much. But you got to remember that booze is a emotion multiplier. If you're depressed and feeling like shit, it WILL boost that feeling, maybe not at first when you numb your mind, but later it will make it worse no matter what. I think the best medicine for the mind is to clear it, good food, sleep and some nice activity to distract away from shitty things work wonders.
