Another small incident which adds to my contention that they are deliberately goading to either generate a violent reaction or confirm they can now act with impunity.

Jogger Arrested 2 E1392995641259

It all started with a woman going for a jog in Austin, Texas. Passerby saw the woman jogging, minding her own business, when police officers took her to the ground and handcuffed her.

Whatever happened is a matter of debate, but witnesses were disturbed enough by the police actions that cellphone cameras began recording the arrest.

“I was doing nothing wrong,” the woman said to a nearby witness while sitting on the sidewalk. Her hands were cuffed behind her as an officer stood over her. “I was just crossing the street!” she exclaimed.

As police took her away, her cries became more desperate.

“I didn’t f**king do anything wrong! I didn’t do anything wrong!” she yelled. Then, as she was placed in the squad car, she yelled, “I f**king crossed the street.”

Chris Quintero witnessed the arrest. He said that he saw the woman jogging with headphones on when a police officer began running after her. The woman never heard him, so she kept jogging. The officer then aggressively grabbed her and cuffed her, Quintero said.

“She repeatedly pleaded with them, saying that she was just exercising and to let her go,” Quintero explained.

Police spokeswoman Lisa Cortinas said that the arrest was for “failure to identify.”

Below is Quintero’s edited video with embedded close-up photographs:

"failure to identify"....another weak reason to justify their need for control.....the only failure she had was to understand what the f*** they were doing....

Must say seems a bit odd the guy just taking pictures and video-ing from such a distance you can barely see or hear anything, not one by-stander even sought to go and speak to them or support the girl from the same side of the street.... :conf:

Jaywalking is wide open to the police's interpretation.

They basically don't want people to set foot on the road which restricts the non car driver a great deal.

The truth is the money people want everybody driving and no one walking for numerous reasons from easier to monitor, take money off people, alienate people and destroy society, maintain the illusion of individualism etc etc.

Apparently she jaywalked, the police saw her and chased her as she was running, she did not hear them as she had headphones on and then she was arrested for failing to identify. It is not clear if after she was stopped she refused to give her details, or if the police arrested her despite having headphones on and doubt as to whether or not she could have heard them.

Was gonna say...other parts of the world are far less keen on erecting steel fences up and down great swathes of road, like we do over here, hence they have these rather dodgy laws in place about where you can and cannot walk.

apart from anything else, for those who see the current system as essentially, good, for our benefit but with some flaws - how would they feel about their tax dollars being spent on this woman's arrest? The average American tax per year per person is apparently around $5000 or $100 per week, apparently an average misdemeanor arrest costs taxpayers between $1,500 and $2,000, so as a minimum, the money some average working guy paid in taxes for 3-4 months was entirely used just to harass some female jogger - can anybody actually think that's a good idea?

Police Chief Says Jaywalkers Should Be Grateful Police Don’t RAPE Them

Austin Police Drag Jogger To Car Screaming After Jaywalking Without ID.2

It seems almost impossibly cruel, insensitive and offensive. Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo said at a press conference Friday that people like the female jogger arrested on jaywalking charges earlier this week, who was dragged screaming to a police car, should just be glad that police did not rape her. After the young lady was unable to hear officers, because she was wearing headphones, passers-by captured officers ruthlessly arresting her for “failing to present ID properly”.

At a press conference related to this arrest and the video that made its way around social media, Chief Acevedo said “This person absolutely took something that was as simple as ‘Austin Police – Stop!’ and decided to do everything you see on that video.” Austin NPR station 90.5 KUT quoted him further as saying “quite frankly she wasn’t charged with resisting. She’s lucky I wasn’t the arresting officer, because I wouldn’t have been as generous. … In other cities there’s cops who are actually committing sexual assaults on duty, so I thank God that this is what passes for a controversy in Austin, Texas.”

By Saturday evening, Acevedo issued an apology for his disturbing earlier comments, saying that he had just had an emotional week.

“During the press conference I attempted to place the arrest into context by bringing attention to the fact that law enforcement deals with many acts of serious misconduct,” Acevedo backtracked. “This includes recent instances in the news of sexual assault by police officers in other cities. In hindsight I believe the comparison was a poor analogy, and for this I apologize. I stand committed to transparent leadership and will continue to engage the community we serve in an open, honest, and timely manner.”
