... like a fungus?

I suppose, with the given choice, he at least keeps his mouth shut on false promises - and everything. :D

See that's why I missed this place. In two posts you've brought me back to me senses.

Ok, I'll play....starting with a question for ya ;)

If you actually believe he's the real deal, why then would you still want to put trust/faith/hope/etc in him given that you know the very system he works in, will eventually be his undoing if he continues to try and steer it in directions the establishment is against?

Surely it's a lose, lose situation when it comes to politicians unless there's a complete overhaul of the current system?

I like Corbyn, if only for the fact that he doesn't look as if he's fallen from a production line.
But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma,
a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

The last two posts in combo kind of sum up how i feel.
I like him (more) because he actually seems genuine. A true old fashioned labour guy. Rather than a manufactured politico.
But...
He just represents the best the current political system has got....which still falls a long way short, a very long way, a million trillion miles short....of anywhere like useful, given our situation.
But, i'd quite enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of cake with him i reckon ;)

For me it was a massive missed opportunity by Corbyn to, rightly, state all of the reservations that he has about the EU, and then also state that he would support Britain remaining part of it anyway, so that the UK government could somehow work for a fair deal from inside the EU, or some other such ridiculous argument. This is despite the fact that this was not his position historically.

Firstly, that says to me that either he's too willing to compromise or that he doesn't really understand the existing system. And also that he really genuinely believes that somehow it's possible to make the EU behave reasonably, despite all of the evidence to the contrary, or he doesn't believe this but is just saying it anyway because it's politically expedient.

All he has done is given people a stick to beat him with, because now they can say, with some justification, that he didn't oppose Brexit strongly enough.

What he should have done was stick to what I believe is his real opinion, and stated that he would support the exit campaign, and outlined all of the principled reasons for taking this position. Like this guy did:

That would have provided a real opposition to the Tories, and people would then have been presented with a genuine choice. Don't get me wrong, I still wouldn't have voted for several reasons, but at that point at least there would be some meaningful political discourse.

Instead, both the Labour party and Conservatives have essentially campaigned for the same thing, the thing that they campaigned for was not wanted by the majority of people, and if you take young people out of the equation (who have been subjected to brainwashing all of their lives) quite a significant majority of the population. Now both parties have to try to point score off one another, with Labour MPs stating that Corbyn can't provide effective opposition, but also stating that he should have more enthusiastically backed remain, which is exactly what the government did, even though most people don't want this!

I just think this was a massive mistake and missed opportunity. But it's interesting to see someone in a significant position who is actually sincere and the level of attacks that this inevitably exposes him to.
The true measure of a man is not his intelligence or how high he rises in this freak establishment. The true measure of a man is this: how quickly he can respond to the needs of others and how much of himself he can give - Philip K. Dick.
