Reflex have you got this document?
Not a finished version. But getting closer.
The document avoids using mainstream facts to counter alternative claims, as nothing the mainstream says will have any credibility to the other side. Instead, it counters conspiracists claims of with other conspiracists claims.
The general approach is comparing a report from a (corrupt) conspiracy site with the source material they reference, and highlight how the details have been changed or omitted to twist the meaning of the story. My naive hope would be that people will realise they are being lied to, and be awoken to the deceptive ways they are being manipulated.
Sadly, my experiences have shown me that when you shine a light in to people's eyes, they just shut their eyelids more tightly. After all, virtually everyone knows that Icke is a liar and hypocrite, yet people still absorb the lies he tells. But at least those who genuinely seek the truth may have the strength to separate what's happening from what they want to believe.
I notice the same laziness in truthers that I see with middle class consumers who think about nothing just repeat opinions or narratives they hear on the news, truthers just repeat crazy theories they've read on the internetz, they haven't reasoned based on evidence, they've assimilated "facts" and a conspiracy narrative to their own outlook, it's very easy to do this as opposed to dialectically constructing your new understanding brick by brick from the bottom up, which requires some involvement, investment, time and energy, but imo also humility, a willingness to accept one's fallibility and thus that of others
I for one am really looking forward to reading this document you're producing, maybe you could host it here in the blogs section?
