Yea the military presence sucks and i hate to see the bitter face looking Queen.

I guess the DIF made me paranoid because I see the games as a positive thing.

For the people of the UK that are angry about how much money the games cost don't be.

Low income people in the UK should be angry they have a Royal family not the Olympics.

:pop:
I can see where you're coming from, it is worth pointing out that the opening ceremony very heavily featured the Queen in particular.

Actually most low-income people in the UK are more likely to be pissed off about the Olympics than the Royal family, ironically. I'm not sure how the Saxe-Coburg-Gothas have achieved this, but they've got some bloody good PR people working for them.

I think it's not so much the waste of money, because Britain is broke anyway, it's more the "let's celebrate everything about Britain" stuff, when the country is in a sorry state, and will be after the games are over. At best, it is being used as a PR distraction by an establishment that's bleeding people dry. And there is some pretty bad poverty in London, by British standards, so this is a double kick in the teeth, really.

Having said that, sport is in my blood, so I will end up watching loads of it and will probably really enjoy it!

I thought the same thing when I heard about the UK riots last year. :villagers:

All I seen was videos of street people breaking into local business and stuff like that.

Never once did there appear to be any rage from the British people towards the Royals.

All day long on TV today they keep showing this Queen and James bond shit and Americans look down on that. :yerright:

If Britain is broke anyway why does it seem like everyone over there still celebrates the royals. :bs: :queen:

I seen all those pictures from the diamond jubilee what a shame...

I've never had any time for the Monarchy.
It is truly the medieval Mob pretending it's gone legit.

Why anyone still falls for it is way beyond me. :conf:

Good for who? It's a corporate event mainly involving sponsors like Coke, MuckDonalds and big finance and insurance companies.

Why shouldn't the people of the UK be pissed of at the cost of this farce? The real cost and increased debt will start to come to light after the games has left town.

The so called middle class are starting to smell the coffee debt doesn't just affect the low income bracket. There should be no poverty in the UK or the world for that matter! The fact there is poverty here should be a pretty big clue that something is seriously wrong. Having said that it would be hard to see how poverty wouldn't exist in fascist plutocracy.

What the hell was that opening ceremony. I watched a bit and it was the biggest pile of cheesy, steaming shite I have ever had the misfortune to watch.

Apparently it cost 27 million

Here's a film that whilst not perfect has a slightly different view on it than the MSM showed you:

Never once did there appear to be any rage from the British people towards the Royals.
The riots of 2011 were literally attention seeking as much as anything else (and if you've watched the film ^^ you'll see that isn't meant as an insult). They were sparked by protected police brutality and fuelled by such things as banker's bonuses, corruption, poverty etc. These particular riots involved the youth almost entirely. I'd agree it would be superb if the inhabitants of Albion kicked the monarchy into touch but that would be an altogether different set of riots ;)
All day long on TV today they keep showing this Queen and James bond shit and Americans look down on that. :yerright:

Don't believe everything you see on TV. From what I saw the overwhelming view of people to the Jubilee was apathy. Yes there is still a strongly Royalist minority and that's what the TV showed. Anti Monarchists were prevented from expressing their views quite strongly. A token gesture was allowed on the embankment on the flotilla day.....This doesn't mean that the people of Britain support the monarchy. Like I said, strongly pro and strongly anti are probably of similar numbers with the vast majority in the middle not really giving a shit.

As I say, all I can put it down to is that they've got incredible PR. Plus, the media, particularly the broadcast media, never, ever has anything negative to say about them whatsoever, and devote a huge amount of resources to putting out what basically amounts to propaganda for them. Still, I don't truly understand why people can't see through it because it was completely obvious to me from being about six or seven years-old that the Monarchy is utterly unjustifiable.

I agree. Though when you see people out celebrating the Royals...especially in London....it is more often than not tourists.
Brits turn out to events that include the Royals for a good day out, not necessarily because they care for, or want to see the Royals.

Many people, from different countries of the world, appear to love the British Monarchy more than the British themselves.
Take Americans as an example...they can't get enough of them.

A pat on the back to anyone who predicted the police in charge of security at the Olympics would loose the Wembley Stadium keys. :killinme:

Own goal: Wembley Stadium keys lost by police checking London 2012 Olympics security

Games organisers last night insisted that security had not been compromised by the incident

Interesting point re the Jubilee dubs...

I have to say, where a street was actually closed for a "party" that I saw, it was pretty feeble. There were a few stalls and a bouncy castle and that was about it. Just the usual amount of people in the street trying to get their shopping done, otherwise.

I shall have a gander at your riot vid. Cheers.

I'm absolutely certain there is no connection to the coincidence that Twitter and NBC linked up to cover the Olympics.

I think I'm right in saying that London is the 2nd busiest city in the world for tourists....A lot of tourists came to London especially to celebrate the jubilee. Don't be fooled by the union jack hats and umbrellas...they are sold all over the heart of London ...for tourists. :hahano:

Most Brits wouldn't have been able to afford the travel expenses to get there. :P
