An injection of genes that make antibodies against nicotine could help millions of smokers kick the habit, scientists believe.
Just one jab could provide life-long protection against nicotine cravings and it could eventually be used to vaccinate children to stop them ever getting hooked.
The ‘genetic vaccine’ has so far been tested only on mice, but research involving people could begin in as little as two years.
The jab contains genes ‘programmed’ to make antibodies that neutralise nicotine before it reaches the brain, where it would normally trigger the pleasurable feelings that underlie addiction.
The theory is that if smokers no longer get such gratification from cigarettes, they will find it easier to quit.
The jab being developed at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York tricks the liver into continuously making antibodies, ensuring there are always some in the blood to fight nicotine.
When vaccinated mice were given nicotine, the antibodies cut the amount that made its way to the brain by 85 per cent, with no effect on their behaviour, blood pressure or heart rate, reports the journal Science Translational Medicine.
Most smokers who try to quit light up again within six months, but lead researcher Dr Ronald Crystal said: ‘This novel vaccine may offer a much-needed solution.’

Disturbing some? It gets worse....
If it proved to be safe and effective, it could eventually be included in school vaccination programmes to stop youngsters from ever starting to smoke, said Dr Crystal.

^Thats disturbing.

When will people start understanding that being stuck with a needle is not a cure... it's an invitation to more and different issues (like say, addiction to being poked with a needle by someone who says "I'm from the government, I am here to help you")...

I'll take smoking over a jab that will "cure" it.
I came into this world kicking and screaming while covered in someone elses blood
and I have no problem with going out the same way

I think there is an agenda to change our DNA by whatever means possible, chemtrails, pharmaceuticals, vaccines, cloning, even what we eat/drink, oh, and those "alien" abductions (you know which ones I'm talking about?). These genetic mutations will be passed on until eventually we are a different species.

Yes it IS disturbing, VERY disturbing but if you notice, they are thinking of as many ways as possible to entice people into taking vaccines, in fact it isn't just people it's animals too.

Vaccines for all types of cancer, vaccines for peanut allergy news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/308920.stm

(which is caused by a peanut adjuvant in the first place!! vactruth.com/2010/07/15/non-disclosed-hy...ic-vaccine-adjuvant/ )

vaccine for heroin addiction www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/feb/24/mex...-test-heroin-vaccine

Here's some more in the pipeline..

www.fiercevaccines.com/special-reports/b...buster-vaccines-2020

^^ ^^

Oh good god, a vaccine for HIV!!! Obesity!! Strokes?? Alzheimers, MRSA, Parkinsons...

In fact they are trying to think of new ways to persuade the population to take them. it's becoming laughable now. (If it wasn't for those who are still deep within the matrix that is...)

The LAST vaccine they will ever produce will be the one against evil. :rl:

On the plus side you're never going to get underage mice outside the newsagent trying to persuade you to buy them some cigs .
When vaccinated mice were given nicotine, the antibodies cut the amount that made its way to the brain by 85 per cent

As a smoker myself, I predict if I were injected that would probably mean I'd smoke 85% more cigs.
I am, however, not a mouse. Just because they seem fine, it's no guarantee I would be in, say, 20 years time. Of course you might point to the dangers of smoking,. I can quit that. I can't quit genes living in my liver.

I agree to tablets and aids to stop but to jab kids to stop them ever trying it takes the choice out of it, plus when did a vaccine ever work.

Those bloody mice hanging out with there hoodies on, "ave you gotta a fag?" lol :) :) :)

Do well DG, nice post. I shall assume that the Daily Fail forgot to mention or quiz the obvious; Making the liver constantly produce extra antibodies for whatever purpose would surely lead to overworking this vital organ. I imagine it'd be like driving a Ford Mondeo 5,000 miles a week without changing the oil or the air freshener.

It looks like they've been desperate to get this working, they've failed miserably on more than one occasion it would seem:

As others have said, whatever next?

Anti criminal behaviour vaccine -> Anti sexual deviance vaccine -> Human Robots bred to work in factories making more vaccines. Wait. I think we already have all that don't we?

Object to them administering this crud to your kids, and maybe they'll label you a nutter, and take your kids into 'care'.

And maybe those like myself, who choose to smoke and be damned, will be pressured into having the vaccination, because we're a burden on the NHS (which is crumbling anyway due to deliberate mismanagement imo).

Why stop there - once they've perfected this miraculous potion, they could work on vaccines to prevent other possible tendencies in adult life too, such as - anything the hell they want!

I wonder if it's be more cost-effective than tampering with genes at the conception stage!

I HATE that stuff.

[rant]Oh right - non smokers just slip away peacefully after zero health problems do they? Do they fuck. As you age, it's very likely things will start going wrong. What the fuck does it matter to the NHS if you die of a heart attack or lung cancer through smoking or get Obscure's disease nobody has ever heard of randomly? At least we get predictable diseases, not some weird syndrome only three experts in the country know about. And excuse me - unless you're buying them under the counter your tax is fucking propping up the NHS. As a smoker, I'm basically paying the cost of private medical insurance just by buying the bastards. They take the tax then moan at you for smoking?!? I mean - what the fuck?!?
And where does it end? smoking is your choice and you're damaging your health and being a burden - well rock climbing is dangerous - don't treat those bastards when they fall off a cliff - they knew the risks, right? A mate of mine lost about four teeth playing rugby - should the dentist not have treated him on the NHS because he was knowingly engaged in something dangerous? Should we stop treating people who eat too much salt? No glasses if you've watched too much telly? No hearing aid if you listened to loud music? We all do things that are risky - are we going to have some moral checklist for the deserving sick now?
Man - I need a cig[/rant]

These halfwit's in government never cease to amaze me.

Here some of the alternatives I can think of.

Pure tobacco without the chemicals.

Electronic Cigs with different nicotine strength's and non nicotine, with no added chemmies the juice for them is cheap too.

Why doesn't the gov, not make these available for people who want to start quitting or giving the people the free will to choose alternatives instead of smoking the crap that big tobacco sell with the added 2000 chemicals.

It couldn't be that someone in Gov is getting a kick back form big Pharma could it? Naaaahhhhh that wouldn't happen, the Government loves us. :worship:

:yeahno: That's not what I meant and you know it! :yeahno:

Here are some things that I have recently read about tobacco:

Studies have shown that smoking can increase critical thinking.

A high percentage of schizophrenics smoke and it is thought that it is helpful to them somehow.

Tobacco is currently being studied as a cure for Alzheimers.

Synopsis: tobacco has positive effects on the thinking and memory part of the brain and can be used a medicine.

There will always be smoker's to cover the cost of running NHS as well as taxes from other areas, that's what they count on I reckon. These accountants in Gov are more than likely seeing most of the taxes going into helping people who have health effects from the chemical laced smokes so someone comes a long and tells the accountant that we can save money by vaccinating.

In the end it's us that pays. The tax taken out of the pay packet and on what we buy is a big kick back to the Governement.

I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!! Bastards.

G'day.

Here's some information regarding tobacco from the book 'The Cosmic Serpent - DNA and the Origins of Knowledge' by Jeremy Narby, ...

Cosmic Serpent

pg 120

Second, there are fundamental differences between the shamanic use of tobacco and the consumption of industrial cigarettes. The botanical variety used in the Amazon contains up to eighteen times more nicotine than the plants used in Virginia-type cigarettes. Amazonian tobacco is grown without chemical fertilizers or pesticides and contains none of the ingredients added to cigarettes, such as aluminum oxide, potassium nitrate, ammonium phosphate, polyvinyl acetate, and a hundred or so others, which make up approximately 10 percent of the smokable matter. During combustion, a cigarette emits some 4,000 substances, most of which are toxic. Some of these substances are even radioactive, making cigarettes the largest single source of radiation in the daily life of an average smoker. According to one study, the average smoker absorbs the equivalent of the radiation dosages from 250 chest X-rays per year. Cigarette smoke is directly implicated in more than 25 serious illnesses, including 17 forms of cancer. In the Amazon, on the other hand, tobacco is considered a remedy. The Ashaninca word for "healer", or "shaman", is sheripiari - literally, "the person who uses tobacco". The oldest Ashaninca men that I knew were all sheripiari. They were so old that they did not know their own age, which only there deeply wrinkled skin suggested, and they were remarkably alert and healthy.

Intrigued by these disparities, I looked through data banks for comparative studies between the toxicity of the Amazonian variety (Nicotiana rustica) and the variety used by the manufacturers of cigarettes, cigars, rolling tobacco, and pipe tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum). I found nothing. The question, it seemd, had not been

pg 121

asked. I also looked for the studies on the cancer rate among shamans who use massive and regular doses of nicotine; again, nothing. So I decided to write to the main authority on the matter, Johannes Wilbert, author of the book Tobacco and shamanism in South America, to put my questions to him. He replied: "There is certainly evidence that Western tobacco products containmany different harmful agents which are probably not present in organically grown plants. I have not heard of shamans developing cancers but that may, of course, be a function of several things like lack of Western diagnosis, natural life span of ingigenous people, magico-religious restrictions of tobacco use in tribal societies, etc."

It seems clear that nicotine does not cause cancer, given that it is active in the brain and that cigarettes do not cause cancer in the brain, but in the lungs, esophagus, stomach, pancreas, rectum, kidneys, and bladder, the organs reached by the carcinogenic tars, which are also swallowed.

... there's more in the book and I highly recommend reading it.

A synopsis (with some direct quotes) of the chapters from the book can be read here ... www.enjoyperu.com/peru_travel_tours_info...r_the_jungle_tv.html
