I've read quite a bit about the occult, and even practised a little white witchcraft and do Reiki.

These are things I don't discuss much with my family, because my husband mocks such things and thinks I'm demented, and Sarah (my daughter) copies him.

My son is interested, but I avoid getting into talks with him about it because he's only 10 and I want him to explore things for himself if he's an interest when he's older, rather than risk his being either confused, or indoctrinated with what I believe.

This morning, Sarah approached me, and though she was attempting to seem light-hearted, I didn't miss the teary look in her eyes. She said she'd had a horrible night, because whenever she was at the stage between sleep & wakefulness, she felt aware that there was someone in the bed with her, and she could feel them touching her. She insisted it wasn't a dream, and she'd keep sitting up & putting the light on, then trying to settle back down to sleep again, at which point, she'd feel hands on her again.

I asked whether she felt the hands were trying to comfort her, or harm her. She said it was like they were 'touching her up', and it frightened her.

Just now she's been demanding to know whether Alex (her brother) or myself have been in her room, because she keeps making her bed, and when she goes back, she finds the duvet & sheet have been pulled back.

We've not been in her room, and both the dogs are down here too, making a nuisance of themselves.

Sarah's never been prone to flights of fancy btw.

I've had similar experiences in the past myself. I'm going to deal with it.

I just wondered if anyone else has experienced anything similar?

That sounds horrible Gilly, and frightening.

I've never had an experience like that...in fact I 've had very very few "paranormal" experiences, if any tbh. I dreamt once that a woman in the middle of a spider's web was pulling me towards her and trying to possess me. I awoke before I got to her though thankfully :chuckle:

I hope whatever is going on with your daughter stops soon, it sounds awful, it would upset me big time if I was experiencing anything like that.

Maybe some people are more kind of in tune with that kind of thing. My brain for whatever reason is sort of completely, how can I say?...closed off really I suppose.

Wow, Gilly-bean!!

When you say "I'm going to deal with it", I've no doubt you will, as you sound to me like a woman not to be messed with.

However, we're all here if you want to chat about it further. I cannot offer you any advice unfortunately, as it's not really something I've ever had to deal with, but I do wish you luck in sorting it asap. Please do let us know how it goes.

And here is a hug, which you may share with Sarah if you wish, poor sausage.

EDIT: I will say, though I've never had to deal with anything physical really, I have had experiences with a 'presence' where simply addressing 'it' and aggressively confirming that you'll have no nonsense seems to have helped. I've spoken to quite a few others who also confirm that most often, making 'it' aware that you are aware is enough to scare it off, seemingly.

Good luck.

I hope your spider-web dream wasn't induced by that vid I posted the other day. :chuckle:

We've been here for 16 years Abs, and I've had a couple of minor things that went on, but only ever with myself .

You're absolutely right in your assessment - informing any unwelcome 'visitor' that they don't have your consent to be there, and telling them to 'Go in peace with God' (or 'fuck off and don't come back' :D ) is a good thing to do.

I'll be coaching Sarah in methods of self-protection, filling her with Reiki, putting a witch's blessing on her bed, surrounding it with psychic fire, and sleeping in it with her tonight. Or as my husband would put it - filling her head with rubbish  It's easy to be flippant and dismissive of these things if you've never come in contact with them personally.

Good stuff. Just knowing she has the power to dismiss whatever it is may be all the encouragement she needs. The power all lies with her, and becoming fearful of whatever (be it real or imagined) is sometimes exactly what they're after/will inevitably make 'it' worse.

Thank goodness she has a mum like you around.

Haha :D No, the spider web dream was a good few years back Gilly, I've never forgotten it though, it was serious shit at the time I had it. One of those feeling the atmos after the dream and leaving the lamp on for the rest of the night affairs :chuckle:

One of my younger sisters purchased an older colonial home about 6 years ago. They were living in the bottom portion and renting out the upper. They went through several tenants the first year and couldn't figure out why. Finally one of them told my sister and her husband that there 'shadow people' who would knock things over and touch her at night. She told me this one day as we were cleaning up the apartment after a tenant that had left.

Some boxes flew to the floor while we were cleaning up. Neither of us were close to them, and they weren't stacked in a way that could cause them to fall. She looked at me expecting me to run out of the place, but I just stayed there and smiled at her. I advised her to be assertive with what-ever was there. We burned some sage in there a few days after, and marked the doorways with olive oil. There haven't been any problems like that there since.

Gilly,

I'm so sorry your little girl is dealing with this! I had something similar messing with me when I was 12 and it terrified me! My parents were of no help and would get mad at me for waking them up at night but I was petrified. I posted about it briefly on this thread:
sanctumzone.co.uk/forum/Paranormal--Myst...ml?limit=20&start=20

Anyway, since I had know one to help me, I would fold my pillow over my ears(so as not to hear the voice and giggles- too creepy)and squeeze my eyes shut; wishing I could just go to sleep and wake up. Eventually, I would whisper to myself over and over "Please go away, please go away" and eventually, it stopped. Sometimes, I believe it was my 3 year old cousin who I witnessed die by being struck by a car in front of my house but there may have been another presence as well. I say that because what pushed up into my back from under the mattress felt like a strong arm or something.

When I think of my cousin, I almost regret telling him to go away. I was too scared and didn't know.

I wish I had advice for your daughter. Maybe she could wish it away. I hope this terror ends soon!

Thanks to everyone for your replies.

I was brought up in a proper haunted house, where we even had events in front of neighbours & other visitors. That's the whole reason why I believe there's something beyond the ordinary, although I don't know properly what it is. I absolutely understand why some people scoff at such notions, because I probably would (or at least assume there was some natural, plausible explanation) had I not witnessed things for myself.

Your ordeal sounds traumatic, K!

I think you're right, Mr Indigo - you do need to take control.

Anyways, so far this was a one-off incident for Sarah, and if I get my way, that's where it will stop.

It's probably more scary to her, because she takes after her dad with his Spock-like logic, and I'll bet she won't dare mention it to him for fear of ridicule.

She knows I'll bolster her courage, because I'm a cocky sod. What entity would like to meet up with me in a temper in the early hours! :D

However, once whilst in our current house, I think I was getting help from some thing.

I get migraines every month, always in my right temple, that can last for a week or more. One night I was aware at some level, for quite a while, although asleep, that there was what felt like a small, dainty finger massaging my right temple where the pain was emanating from. It was very soothing. After a while, I became more fully conscious, and focused on the sensation, wondering what it was. It soon stopped in-situ, and then the light (fingertip type) pressure completely left.

I got something like that whilst visiting my local spiritualist centre once. I was suffering from the worst tooth ache ever, but I hadn't the money to get it fixed at the time. I remember sitting there listening to the speaker when all of a sudden my cheek started to tingle. I kept listening to the speaker but paid attention to what was happening to my face. About twenty mins later, I found myself with my face angled up, almost as if there was actually someone stood next to me applying healing!

I left there feeling much better anyway.

This thread has triggered some suppressed memories from my own childhood.

However, @Gilly, how did last night go?

I slept in my own bed, having done the other things I mentioned above, and instructed her to get me up if she had any bother.

I thought I heard something in the middle of the night, & was about to go & investigate if it was Sarah making a noise, but realised it was just my hubby making his usual unearthly nasal-passage sounds. :D

She's not got up yet, but I think everything was peaceful and without incident.

Let's be hearing about your suppressed childhood memories, Jhado. Without wishing anyone's had a rotten time, it's somehow comforting to know that others have had similar experiences, if that makes sense.

*Edit* Ooh - that sounded bossy! I meant, 'May we hear about your suppressed memories?'. :emb:

Firstly I feel I should say that this is my first time into this kind of topic. I consider myself open minded although my natural reaction to ghosts and the like is I admit a childish joke which I think is kind of a defensive thing you know. However I am learning about this stuff and being more open to it.

Oddly I grew up in a house with a father who was always watching UFO and ghost shows and had loads of books on those sorts of topics. Poltergeists etc and then my mother would always go to mediums and get readings etc so she was very spiritual. My wife always seemed like the last person to get into such things but in fairly recent times she has starting getting into saging and that kind of thing. She has told me about energies that she has felt rushing into our room etc and to be honest that stuff gives me chills. I have no idea how to deal with that kind of thing. I guess in some ways my attitude is like your husbands although like I said I am trying to be more open to things that seem to have so much supporting evidence and in this case it is simply that you seem to be genuine.

I wish you and your family all well. Sounds like they don`t need luck though as they have you.
