This genuinely happened a few years ago.

I was doing something, that involved lurking about in my garden very late one summer's night under a full moon, and drinking wine (but only a small amount - less than a glass full).

When I looked at the moon, it was phenomenal. I've never seen it like that, either before or since.

It had a thick rim of purple an dark blue around it, that pretty much looked like neon lights, and they were fluctuating and bleeding into each other constantly, a bit like a lava lamp effect.

I watched it for ages - well about 10-15 minutes probably, before I was summoned indoors.

My sister & her husband tell me they witnessed exactly the same thing on a different occasion when they were very drunk, and were so excited by the spectacle, that they phoned the brother-in-law's parents (who go to bed at about 8.30pm) at around 2.30am, to tell them to go & look at the moon. Much to their annoyance.

So, has anybody else ever seen that, and what the blazes is it?

maybe it was cirrostratus clouds refracting light?

Hmmm - just Googled them and they're beautiful. I can't imagine them being a vibrant, glowing deep purple and indigo in an even ring around the moon - but I don't know - maybe they could?

maybe it was just the perfect timing?

but maybe it was charging up the death ray.

I wish I'd had the gumption to grab a camera. Yes, death ray's a possibility.

I have a recurring dream where I am trying to evacuate people. Schools, hotels, shopping centres, warehouses and occasionaly underground carparks. Sometimes I know the people and on other occasions I don't. The only constants are a dark purple cloud bank rolling in and a dire need to find a firearm*.

An airport has figured on 2 or 3 occasions and my brief in those dreams is to get people onto planes - the most recent featured me rushing my brother and someone else on board a small and weirdly shape plane which nose-dive crashed shortly after take-off. There is always a heavy air traffic presence in the evacuate dreams.

Should I book a room at the local soft walled hotel?

*the firearm frenzy often involves leaping impossible distances and heights between skyscrapers, occasionally being chased by odd looking creatures. I believe they may be winged.

I'd not thought of it from a 'special one' point of view. In the past I've kept my head when shit's been going on around me and I'd always thought that the dream me was just an extension of that.

If I told you about the 4 or 5 dreams I've had involving the 'Tibetan girl' you'd regret it even more. I'd almost forgotten about them.

Crikey, even I'm worried now.

When I used to kill time on the funkypool site, I sometimes pretended to be an 8yr old Tibetan girl who attended a school for gifted children as part of the Buddhist space program.

One American chappie asked if that was a military project and another was gutted that I was only 8yrs old and could beat him at pool.

True story.
