Deane Road Cemetery, Liverpool, burial ground for numerous Jewish families dating back to the 17th Century. After the cemetery fell into disrepair during the 18th Century residents of the road have reported hearing children's screams in the middle of the night, doors slamming unexpectedly and furniture seemingly rearranging itself. Some of the older houses on the street which may have been involved in keeping slaves during the slave trade in the latter part of the 19th Century have experienced screams, scratching sounds, loud footsteps, doors shutting and locking and supposed possession. During the times of slavery it was not uncommon for slaves to be kept in ill conditions in the large basements of these old homes and it has been speculated that this fact may be central to the hauntings of these particular houses more so than the cemetery itself..

Phänomenologie des Geistes (1807) is one of G.W.F. Hegel's most important philosophical works. It is translated as The Phenomenology of Spirit or The Phenomenology of Mind due to the dual meaning in the German word Geist. The book's working title, which also appeared in the first edition, was Science of the Experience of Consciousness. On its initial publication , it was identified as Part One of a projected "System of Science", of which the Science of Logic was the second part. A smaller work, titled Philosophy of Spirit (also translated as "Philosophy of Mind"), appears in Hegel's Encyclopedia of the Philosophical Sciences, and recounts in briefer and somewhat altered form the major themes of the original Phenomenology...Zeit/From Middle High German zīt, from Old High German zīt, akin to Old Saxon tīd, compare Dutch tijd, from Proto-Germanic *tīdiz. A cemetery is a spatially defined area where the remains of deceased people are buried or are otherwise interred. The term "cemetery" (from Greek κοιμητήριον: sleeping place) implies that the land is specifically designated as a burial ground. The intact or cremated remains of deceased people may be interred. The remains may be interred in a grave, commonly referred to as burial, or may be interred in a tomb, an "above-ground grave" (resembling a sarcophagus), a mausoleum, columbarium, or other edifice. In Western cultures, funeral ceremonies are often observed in cemeteries. These ceremonies or rites of passage differ according to cultural practices and religious beliefs. Modern cemeteries often include crematoria, and some grounds previously used for both, continue as crematoria as a principal use long after the interment areas have been filled...

The basis for the Ghost Dance, the circle dance, is a traditional ritual which has been used by many Native Americans since prehistoric times, but this new form was first practiced among the Nevada Paiute in 1889. The practice swept throughout much of the Western United States, quickly reaching areas of California and Oklahoma. As the Ghost Dance spread from its original source, Native American tribes synthesized selective aspects of the ritual with their own beliefs. This process often created change in both the society that integrated it, and in the ritual itself...

The development of the Passion Play was about the same as that of the Easter Play. It originated in the ritual of the Church, which prescribes, among other things, that the Gospel on Good Friday should be sung in parts divided among various persons...
Though it cannot claim to be the first, Dracula , written by Bram Stoker (1897), is perhaps the best known of all vampire texts and is certainly the one that has the strongest connection to cinema. Perhaps this is because the birth of Dracula and that of the cinema were coincident and because their histories and lifespans are eternally synchronized: Thomas Edison received a patent on his moving picture camera and projector the year that Stoker's novel was first published...

“The Sanskrit term `Heruka’ is composed of the three syllables, `He’, `ru’, and `ka’. `He’ teaches the emptiness of phenomena in general, and `ru’ the emptiness of persons in particular; together they reveal the emptiness of all phenomena. `Ka’ refers to the union of Heruka’s mind of great bliss and the emptiness of all phenomena. This union is Heruka’s Truth Body. An I, or self, imputed on this Truth Body is definitive Heruka, the real nature of Buddha Heruka. This can only be seen by Buddhas...
Attaining the state of Buddha Heruka depends upon abandoning the 12 dependent-related links of samsara by gaining the realizations of the 4 doors of liberation; and in particular it depends upon realizing the union of great bliss and emptiness. In ancient times, Tau was used as a symbol for life and/or resurrection, whereas the eighth letter of the Greek alphabet, theta, was considered the symbol of death...The origin of ankh is highly debated and it is represented by an oval or point-down teardrop set atop a T shape...
Tau is usually considered as the symbol of Franciscan orders due to St. Francis' love for it, symbol of the redemption and of the Cross. Almost all Franciscan churches have painted a tau with two crossing arms, both with stigmata, the one of Jesus and the other of Francis; usually members of the Secular Franciscan Order wear a wooden T in a string with three knots around the neck...

Faversham was the cradle of the UK’s explosives industry: it was also to become one of its main centres. The first gunpowder plant was established in the 16th century, possibly at the instigation of Faversham Abbey... With their estates and endowments monasteries were keen to invest in promising technology. At 2.20pm on Sunday 2 April 1916, a huge explosion ripped through the gunpowder mill at Uplees, near Faversham, when 200 tons of TNT ignited. The blast killed 105 people and many were buried in a mass grave at Faversham Cemetery..Plaxtol is a small village of about 1,000 residents in Kent...Approximately 63% of the land in Plaxtol belongs to the Fairlawne Estate now belonging to the Saudi-Arabian Prince, Al-Waleed bin Talal.
