I have never dug this dude before. Ever. But on the way home just now, this song came on the radio.
I don't have words to describe how high the hairs on me neck stood up. Just fucking awesome.
This guy is now officially a legend imo.

For me, it isn't just that the guy has finally shown me just how awesome his voice is, just how much genuine soul he has and just how talented a song writer he is.
It's also the lyrical content. The subject matter is pretty well spot on. This is a single. Which means it should be getting daytime radio plays in abundance.

EDIT: Looks like I f'd up with the category I posted this in :emb:

See that toon is what I've always expected from him. Kind of meaningless, soulless pap :hide:

I know what you mean about the lyrical content - quite a few of the previous album tracks were quite like that he's obviously a thinker :spliff: can't remember which song of which album in particular but it was a few years back there was one I always thought was really inspiring.... I'll look :)

I'm looking theres quite a good few lines here and there
no pun intended as I typed there but here's a good one and I don't think it's just his hopes that are high :D

Ok, I clicked one finally and that was it....erm, does he sing like that all the time? It didn't wreak of sincerity with some faux vox to fit the melody. Do I click another?

The fella was so over marketed in Greece a couple of years back I made a conscious effort to avoid him!

I agree that a lot of the time he sounds affected. Put on. Which doesn't fill me with respect. That iron sky track is different tgough imo. It sounds straight from soul to me. I don't mean his voice sounds soulful. I mean it sounds like his soul is shining through his voice.

Nice thread dubs.... I've been partial to this little gem since I saw him on the box at Glastonbury back in 2007. He was a mere 19 years old and I thought he was brilliant. I also don't believe the way he sings is put on either, in fact, back then his voice had hardly fucking broke as far as I'm concerned :D

For a lad so young, to be writing and performing this well at such a tender age proved his talent beyond a doubt for me and he's going to be around along time only improving with age. And I agree with everything you said about this current tune

EDIT - Also had the pleasure of seeing him live at Rockness a few years back :coffee:

Yeah yeah he's got a soulful voice and all the rest of it, frankly I listen to half a song and then drift off, either because my attention span is too short, or because he's boring.

It's the type of music that gets played in Homebase, perhaps it appeals to new couples making homes/starting out. :chuckle:
:coffee:

I'd prefer to listen to Bob Dylan.

Sorry for a bit of a thread jack dubs :spank:

Yeah perhaps so batty, It's just that if I had to listen to some cunt prattling on in a whining tone, Id rather listen to Dylan than Nutini

:moon:

Least Dylan songs are a protest rather then a meaningless babble :dunno:
