Self-sufficiency is the state of not requiring any aid, support, or interaction, for survival; it is therefore a type of personal or collective autonomy. The term self-sufficiency is usually applied to varieties of sustainable living in which nothing is consumed outside of what is produced by the self-sufficient individuals. Examples of attempts at self-sufficiency include simple living, homesteading, off-the-grid, survivalism, DIY ethic and the back-to-the-land movement. Practices that enable or aid self-sufficiency include autonomous building, permaculture, sustainable agriculture, and renewable energy. The term is also applied to limited forms of self-sufficiency, for example growing one's own food or becoming economically independent of state subsidies. Here is a site with a recipe for home brewed root beer. If you scroll down the page a bit they provide a source where the ingredients can be purchased on line.

Here is a slightly more scientific recipe home brew root beer he also provides a source for an extract.

Grow your own sassafras trees

I used to love sarsaparilla cordial but whenever I see it anywhere these days it always has artificial sweeteners in it which renders in useless for consumption. If anyone knows where it can be brought in the UK without the foul tasting poisonous sweetener please post the source.
MyZone Page is your own personal web page which you can create right here on Sanctum Zone. It's dead easy! Why not check out the example https://sanctumzone.co.uk/myzone/Example/.

Oh - gotcha. "Same as dandelions", just meant go & get them from the woods too.

Could you kindly structure your language better, to take into account there's an idiot reading.

Never soddin' heard of a piggin' sassafrass tree, mumble, mumble.

This looks good...

"Interestingly, while massive quantities of safrole caused liver cancer in lab animals, it seems that small doses may actually play a protective role for humans. Some studies indicate that safrole may actually stimulate the death of cancer cells, particularly oral cancers1,2 though it may also do so in lung3 and prostrate4 cancers."
