Self-sufficiency is the state of not requiring any aid, support, or interaction, for survival; it is therefore a type of personal or collective autonomy. The term self-sufficiency is usually applied to varieties of sustainable living in which nothing is consumed outside of what is produced by the self-sufficient individuals. Examples of attempts at self-sufficiency include simple living, homesteading, off-the-grid, survivalism, DIY ethic and the back-to-the-land movement. Practices that enable or aid self-sufficiency include autonomous building, permaculture, sustainable agriculture, and renewable energy. The term is also applied to limited forms of self-sufficiency, for example growing one's own food or becoming economically independent of state subsidies. @ Gilly, I upcycled a total of 17 pieces in one month, starting the 2nd week before christmas. :) including those tie backs. I'm really pleased with one of those god awful 70's wooden mag racks that now houses my fav LP's...one of which jhado was impressed with. :chuckle: And the bureau now has a chair.

@ Hugo...trust you! :D ...no they are the three see, hear, tell no evil monkeys! What I get up to with them of course is none of your business!

@jhado.....even if I say so myself, they look a whole lot better in real life. When are you next up in this neck of the woods matey?

Here's the mag rack.....
