Self-sufficiency is the state of not requiring any aid, support, or interaction, for survival; it is therefore a type of personal or collective autonomy. The term self-sufficiency is usually applied to varieties of sustainable living in which nothing is consumed outside of what is produced by the self-sufficient individuals. Examples of attempts at self-sufficiency include simple living, homesteading, off-the-grid, survivalism, DIY ethic and the back-to-the-land movement. Practices that enable or aid self-sufficiency include autonomous building, permaculture, sustainable agriculture, and renewable energy. The term is also applied to limited forms of self-sufficiency, for example growing one's own food or becoming economically independent of state subsidies. WinCo Foods, Inc. is a privately held, majority employee-owned[4][5][6] American supermarket chain based in Boise, Idaho with retail stores in Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Texas. It previously operated stores as Waremart Food Centers and Cub Foods until 1999. As of 2013, it has 89 retail stores and four distribution centers with 14,200 employees
WinCo Foods is based in Boise, Idaho. It was founded in 1967 and most of the company ownership is held by current and former employees through an employee stock ownership plan. WinCo currently operates four distribution centers in Woodburn, Oregon; Myrtle Creek, Oregon; Boise, Idaho; and Modesto, California, and has a total of just over 14,000 employees company-wide.[3]

It reduces operating expenses by directly purchasing from manufacturers and farmers, not accepting credit cards, having basic stores, and not providing bagging service

Its just majority employee shareholding, I wouldn't call it anarcho-syndicalist until it has its own social infrastructure like housing, banks, schools, healthcare etc.

It could go that way but its a long way off it IMHO.

Hence the question mark. :)

That was the claim I read elsewhere, but it is still a step in the right direction.

Well, capitalism is the ownership of the means of production.
The wingnuts would just rather a small elite group own the means of production and fuck everyone else.

Its all very very simple when you look at it that way.
