Looking again, the symbols in the circle look like cuneiform symbols for the sun.

I've not been able to find those pictures I mentioned (having problems with malevolent laptop). They weren't memorably similar to that - though there were loads of them spread across the screen.

We could do with someone with the knowledge to decipher them.

I've a good book on occult symbols, but it's in the loft & I can't reach the loft hatch, even standing on a chair.

Some of these connections seem a bit tenuous, but overall, this person's effort to interpret the symbolism used in the ceremonies, is at least interesting.

Also should note, I must have missed a great deal of the opening ceremonies because some of that I didn't see at all and I had it on from start til end on the TV (although being America, they probably censored it to fit the damned commercials in).

When I watched this ceremony I was startled. It looked like a ritual to me. I liked that Coldplay song, Viva whatever it is. After watching their performance I looked the lyrics up and was surprised to see I had the meaning of the song all wrong. And then I couldn't get the song (or the ritual either) out of my head.

I was listening to the commentators, and I think it was when the black crows or vultures on stilts were walking around, that they said the designer said that the viewer should not ask what the ceremony meant, but just enjoy it for what it is.... something along those lines.

Besides the ritual aspect, I got the sense of a subtle message that was being put out for the disabled and everyone else watching, I am not sure how to articulate it, but it was especially strong when the one legged guy climbed the ladder and was calling out to the four elements.

There are 3 commercials that are running right now which are put out by the Shriners. To be a Shriner, you must be a Freemason first (in case you don't know who they are). These commercials that I have been seeing are putting out the same message (I think).

It is subtle, but it is saying "you got fucked over and we/they are the ones to fix you". There is more to it than that and if I can figure out a way to say it I will be back, but yeah this ceremony freaked me out and I think there could be an agenda behind it.
