Corner calling...so we agree it existed before Aleister Crowley twisted it 180 degrees in the opposite direction?
It is part of a long history of hermeticism, and Crowley twisted nothing as regards it. He was the means by which neopagans came to it.
Shall we agree that the ceremony organisers are just as confused about what they were trying to do with 'Britain's ancient traditions' as many other folk who just bundle all the above 'sects' as one thing?
They should not have been, if Restell Orr was indeed a consultant. That said, neopaganism is full of people who deny its history (as coming from Crowley, via Gardner, rather than being an ancient tradition of this land).
Of course the catholic father, son, holy ghost thing is akin to corner calling...it's just that the 4th 'direction' is never mentioned.
No, its not remotely comparable, but I doubt that we are going to get anywhere on this point as I'm not interested in discussing the complexities of trinitarian theology.
The bottom line is, anything 'neo' is just that...'new'. Based only on hearsay. Nothing of the original British ancient traditions was ever written down or ancient artefacts found.
Not strictly true, as we have the henges, barrows and the (understandably biased) writings of Caesar, but yes Neopaganism has nothing to do with the British Ancient Traditions that the paralympics claimed to be on about.
Anyway, we digress a little from the opening ceremony in a way.....has anybody found any still piccys af the symbols that were on the floor...I can't find any, and I'd love a closer look at them. Lokking at seperate parts and investigating each could lead to a better 'classification' of where the whole ceremony fell.
Yes, I noticed them as well. Almost Enochian looking!
