There was an issue with the registration process over the weekend, which was due to the reCaptcha system. The problem has been fixed so if you're reading this and were unable to register you shouldn't have a problem registering now. Please note that an activation email will be sent to the email used in your registration. It's not uncommon for the activation email to end up in the spam of junk folder, so please take a look for the email there if it's not in your inbox. The activation email should arrive within a few minutes of submitting the registration details.

We have had successful registrations virtually every day for the last week so I doubt that the problem is with any of the scripts.

The first issue that would cause a registration to fail would be non acceptance of the EU cookie policy. No cookies no registration and no error message will be displayed.

The second issue would be the most common problem with failed registrations and that is failure to follow the activation link sent to all new signups in the activation email. This normally happens when the mail client routes the email to the spam/junk folder and the new member doesn't check there for genuine mail. Alternatively some new signups use fake email addresses or services in which case they will never receive the activation email. We use fake mail filters to prevent emails being sent to fake mail services and false emails wont resolve or will not be accessible to the person creating the false account.

If you would like to PM me the names that they used for registration I can check to see if the system has recorded any of their details.

I can tell you a Raggie has registered and has failed to complete the activation stage of the process. Hagbard Celine hasn't successfully completed any stage of the process using his screen name.

No problem Gilly it's always good to get feedback in case there are issues with the site. Scripts are being updated regularly and occasionally they can have unexpected effects on different areas of the site. There are several hundred scripts in operation and in the region of 6000 system related files so things can get a little out of whack after applying changes even after testing on a development build.

If you're in touch with Raggie you could ask them if they have checked their spam/junk folder for the activation email. If they would like to take a fresh run at the registration we can delete the partially completed account, which would allow them to reuse the same data again. If they would like to do that then they can use the contact form which is accessible from the main menu in the head of the page. That way we can let them know when the old account data has been removed and offer any other assistance they need to get their account active.
